I went for Rome which is the capitol of italy and within the city limits is the country of the Vatican Or Bratislava which is the capitol of Slovakia and borders Austria
And there was me about to put 'Jerusalem' as the answer, oy vey ermmm hey ho. The views expressed in my posts are not necessarily mine.
I’m also not convinced that it’s divided ‘by’ two countries. East and West Hull are divided by the River Hull - it’s what separates them. Surely it’s divided ‘between’ two countries? Fair enough that I probably wouldn’t have known it anyway, but it’s a different question.
It's divided by a UN demilitarised buffer zone, which is situated between a country and a self-declared independent state. 51 years and counting.
I take your point but for the purpose of the quiz we'll go with Mr Google and the Guardian... https://www.theguardian.com/world/2017/jan/15/in-nicosia-cyprus-spirit-of-reconciliation-is-stirring
Nah and nah...tbh I guessed a couple, but I'd give them there Chasers on the telly a run for their money.
I used to think that but I've been to the Turkish many times in the last couple of year and its very modern now. Not much different to the south...except about 30% cheaper.
Have to disagree with regard to Nicosia! Was there 2 years ago, the Turkish side around the crossing point is pure Turkish, coffee shops, kebabs, knock-off t-shirts, no shop names you've heard of, unruly, colourful and best of all, interesting. Go through the crossing point and you're straight into Gap, McDonalds, Timberland, Benetton, etc all in shiny, new buildings. It's just like Westfield without the roof! It does have a cracking classic motorbike museum though!
TBF I agree. I'm not saying it's not Turkish it absolutely is. But it's not stuck in some time warp as the view across the green line suggests. We have now had several holidays on the Turkish side and love it.
