Sutton's prediction: 0 - 2. Southampton have made a decent fist of it in their past two games, against Manchester United and Nottingham Forest, but they still ended up losing both of them. Let's face it, they are as good as down. Their situation is so bad that, when we spoke about the relegation battle on this week's Monday Night Club, we didn't even mention them - the assumption is that they are already gone. Their main aim now is to avoid going down with the lowest points tally in Premier League history. They have got 16 games left to pick up the six points that would see them beat Derby County's tally of 11 points from 2007-08. It is a big incentive because Robbie Savage, who was Derby's captain that season, has had to live with that record for years. I'd really like him to keep hold of it, so let's all pray for Southampton to reach the 12-point mark. I don't see them picking anything up here though. Jamie Demetriou's prediction: 1 - 3 . Newcastle will have something to prove after the Bournemouth game and it seems like Southampton are committed to finishing bottom, and are doing a good job of it.
Listened to most of the programme on 5 Live that Sutton refers to, they were discussing the relegation battle and it is true, Saints didn't merit a mention. We've become a very sad club, just hope there is some strategy to consolidate in the Championship.
Not sure we'll do this but I'd just try to crowd them out and use our most athletic and strongest players. In theory our best players to hurt Newcastle are Dibling and Sulemana, players that can run at pace with the ball, however both are injured soooooo...I feel like we should just attempt to be horrible to play against and play for the point. I still expect us to lose, but maybe this is our best chance of not losing. Ramsdale KWP THB Bednarek Wood Manning Fernandes Ugochukwu Downes Gronbaek Armstrong
I guess I can understand not starting him. But if he's fit, I don't see the point in not including him in the matchday squad at the very least. It's not like our existing players deserve to keep their place in the team.
Juric is unlikely to play KWP on the right, Manning on the left and Wood as the third CB either, so it was more the team that I would like to see than the team that I expect Juric to start with!
I was very vaguely intrigued by this match if Kamaldeen and Tyler were playing (or at least one of them). Now though, we’re in the realms of miracles.
How unpredictable are we?! Only thing I can always predict is that as soon as anyone starts scoring they get injured
Guimares, Tonali and Joelinton. Can’t see our midfield going toe to toe with them and coming out with much credit. Could be a verrrrrrrry long afternoon and I might have to put my Geordie neighbour on block for the day.
Just heard that Newcastle’s travel may be disrupted due to the storm so they may have to travel tomorrow instead of today.
