its quite hard not to when there seems to be an intrinsic difference in how each side of our fanbase views him, im surprised that after years of George Dobson, Max Power, Josh Scowen that people can't appreicate just how intelligent (just on the pitch) and well rounded Neil is as a midfielder.
You have to be on the wind up It would be a sickener to lose Neil. A lot more than Ballard and Patterson, as you’ve named
No explanation of the disallowed goal from the officials, expect tough game Saturday but we are ready and trained well, aji out for the season we’re the main points
Overall rating, total passes, passing accuracy, progressive passes, tackles, successful dribbles, interceptions.. compared to the other DM’s. We all know data doesn’t determine how good a player is because it’s relevant to the teams style of play etc but those are the metrics you’re asking for. Your opinion is based on watching Neil every week and snippets of the others so I’m unsure how you can dismiss mine as not being logical and yours as being right but whatever you say mate
Could be massively wrong but I'm quite confident we keep Neil this window. Club has shown a load of times they are reluctant to sell key players. They sold Stewart (with a major injury) for £10m-£12m with a year left on his deal at 27 to another Championship club, so will be confident of a substantial fee for a young home grown talent with stable premier league club interest. I think they will be looking at two scenarios, if not promoted, he will be sold in the summer for a fee in excess of £15m. If promoted, he will sign a new long term deal. Fingers crossed he stays, been our best performer in the past 6-8 weeks imo.
I have a sneaky suspicion that we might not do as much business in the remainder of this window than many would like. I think with the emergence of Hjelde recently, the return of Seelt and with O'Nien demonstrating he can fill in on either side, quells a bit of need for another fullback. I think the club will act if they feel they can bring in something significantly better than Cirkin or Hume to displace them, otherwise I suspect we'll go with what we have. As for the striker, Rusyn has to go first I would imagine and with Abdullahi back, it also reduces the urgency for another body uptop, I think there are two likelihoods should we recruit, first a filler striker who will mostly sit on the bench and is expected to be back up to Wilson, probably a loan. Secondly, an actual good striker to displace or seriously compete with Wilson, likely to cost us a decent wedge (Frigan £12.6m, Cannon £13m etc).
Once I get in from work I will pick up the batton mate Selling Neil now would be like letting half the air out of our balloon.
He moved to Montpellier summer before last and was beyond us at the time. Was getting linked to one or two of the more flush champ clubs before he got his move. Definitely a different type of striker to what we have. Was being linked to Milan a short while ago.
