Everton ****ting the bed terrified they’ll play in their shiny new bowl in the second division. Great fun if they go down.

Mourinho was/is favourite but think that’s nonsense just based on who their owners are.

No, zero, nil PL clubs to be charged for overspending on PSR for 23/24 season.

Makes you wonder if these rules are fit for purpose.

Wasps will buzz no more - Wasps rugby club have finally been liquidated after running up nearly half a million debts from their ill-fated relocation to Coventry. Their link up with us under Loftus Road plc was the beginning of 15 years of problems for us so there won't be many tears shed on this news...

Just seen a listing of PL grounds ranked by the number of pubs within a mile of the ground.

Care to guess which grounds came top (most pubs) and bottom?

I reckon Chelsea and Fulham could be high up the list, and Newcastle and Arsenal, though for the latter it’s just because Islington is an easy walk away. Brentford of course used to have a pub at each corner of the ground but I think less well served now. The Scouse teams are city centre so might be ok.

I’m not sure how many pubs there are within a mile of Spurs but am pretty sure only the Bluecoats is half decent.

Leicester mid table, but high up in quality pubs.

Reckon not so many near Man City, I know Brighton is miles from anywhere and not sure if there is much around West Ham now. But a mile is quite a long way in a town/city

This is a subject close to my heart.

You've mentioned both top and bottom.

Considering Brentford used to have 4 pubs attached to the ground, it's disappointingly low now with just 6 within a mile.

Top of the table has a remarkable 174!

That has to be Newcastle top, it’s packed out with boozers and St James’ Park is right in the middle of town. I’ll go Brighton bottom.

Yeah, seems odd. Must be more than a mile back to Hammersmith, I guess.

Not sure where the 12 pubs near West Ham are. Mostly in Westfield, I suppose.

Because Tarquin and Finbar only drink in cocktail lounges, and they don't count

Craven Cottage and it's surrounding area is almost exclusively residential, river and Bishops Park. The Bishops of Fulham Palace which is located in Bishops Park wouldn't allow any Public Houses built in the proximity of the palace. The nearest is my old local The Crabtree. There are few others going in the opposite direction towards Putney in Fulham High Street. The next nearest would be The Durrell Arms ( another of my old locals ) at the junction of Fulham Road and Munster Road. The nearest pub used to be The Cottage in Colehill Lane Sw6 but that closed about 15 years ago.

None right next to the ground but my calculations there are loads more than 6 pubs within a mile of Craven Cottage. A mile in a straight line takes you well into Putney.
    The Crabtree
    The Durrell Arms
    Bedford Arms
    The Brown Cow
    The Temperance
    The Golden Lion
    The Kings Arms
The Eight Bells……even before you get to the other side of Putney Bridge where there are loads. Perhaps my measurements are wrong, but a mile is a long way in London, as you would know more than most.

The nearest pub over Putney Bridge is The Rocket ( Wetherspoons ) which Google maps says is 1.3 miles by road. But if you walk through Bishops Park it's 1 mile. I had my final drink as a single man in The Golden Lion. Alan Hudson drinks in there.
