A top level player won’t join without the guarantee of being registered for Europa though. There’s likely only going to be one spot in Europa right now if we assume Spence and Kinsky replace two current players. The only calibre of player we’ll be signing to accept such a condition where they may not get Europa registration will be a **** one.
I hadn't realised the window closes on 3rd of Feb and not 31st of Jan as I'd assumed. That's a massive bonus. We now get an extra three days to watch the club twiddling its thumbs while journalist tweet on the hour "Understand Spurs are trying to...". The limbs when we sign Cedric Soares as a free agent at 10:59pm on deadline day are going to be epic.
Erm. Let's agree to disagree. IMHO. In no world does it make sense to sack Mourinho before a cup final. Ryan Mason was never going to win it. With Mourinho we had a chance. It may have cost more money to sack him afterwards, but the value of having a cup, or even having him lose the final and then sack him would always be worth the risk in my view. That decision was more 'money over football' than anything else I see Levy accused of regularly.
That's unfair. I'm reliably informed that it's just bad luck. In Taiwan, to lift bad luck, they cut the head off a live rooster... ...Levy's already had its wings and bollocks, so why not?
I think the Spurs defeat against City not long before the cup final played a part too. It was a terrible performance and Spurs didn’t look close to troubling City. Sacking him was the right decision imo. He was poisonous and far from at his peak
Craziest thing is with the news from Paul O’Keefe about Sarr, the longer we’ve waited to get deals done is gonna make it even tougher to sign people now because at the beginning of the window we were desperate for signings. In that time, Johnson, Solanke, Bissouma and now Sarr have picked up injuries. We’re so far beyond desperate that Wout Faes would cost us £50m in this market, let alone a remotely competent footballer.
Sarr's injured too?! I'll nip home and clean my boots. I was a cracking CM back in the day. Hybrid of Andrea Pirlo and David Batty, people said.
Breaking: @Spur5Official: We are delighted to announce the signing of Hans String from Desperados FC, subject to a medical. Update: Due to complications during the medical involving an injury to a Hamstring, Hans String will remain at his parent club.
So, not only are West Ham trying to sign Duran, but Forest (who have had 1 good half season) are in for Cunha and Wissa. All 3 of these players improve us, so I’m incredibly intrigued to see who we sign, if we sign anyone that is. unless it’s a case of pulling rabbits out of sleeves (very unlikely), these are the sorts of names (by now) that we should be seeing Tottenham at the stage of bids/almost agreeing terms. as each day passes, I’m convinced we’re asleep at the wheel and doing nothing.
The only one of those that might have some legs though is Cunha who I have also seen us apparently interested in. There’s just as many made up stories about players spurs so I don’t think this is a sign that we’re not doing anything.
Transfers made in January for the first team in the 15/16, 16/17, 17/18 and 18/19 seasons where we were at our peak under Poch: 15/16 - 0 16/17 - 0 17/18 - Lucas Moura. 18/19 - 0 (and we sold Mousa Dembele). Finished 3rd, 2nd 3rd and 4th (with a CL final). Looking back now, it really does make you wonder just what could’ve been if we had a club desperate for success.
we watch football to see our team win silverware if i was to pick one man to manage us in a cup final, a one-off, it would have been Mourinho It was an atrocious footballing decision by the man who has no football IQ in no parallel universe did it make sense to replace one of the most successful managers in modern football with Ryan ****in Mason for that game. so what if we lost to them a week prior? we got walloped by Pool a few weeks ago…Ange still took charge for the cup semi was another money saving decision by Mr Levy
I have nothing but respect for your continued optimism. If you can advise us all how you deal with the disappointment, it would be greatly appreciated. I’m currently on booking.com keeping an eye on the January prices for CK’s cave. They’re expensive at this time of year.
Interest is said to have switched to spending on the developing duo, Ho Tel and Hou Zing, as they look to give a better ROI, with a club source claiming particularly strong approval for the move amongst Asian supporter groups.
