How do we approach the Norwich game then?

  1. No, Cabaye is not a winger. He doesn't have great pace, and he's much better at passes down the center than crossing.

Play Obertan. He wasn't very good last game because he was no match for Ashley Cole, I think he can do better vs Norwich's defense.

I would rather Simpson as CB rather than Santon because a) Simpson is more up to speed and b) Santon is better at attacking than Simpson so would rather have him at RB.

Swap Gosling and Cabaye and it would be better.

  4. That would be even worse. Gosling is not a winger at all. No pace, hasn't really impressed with his attacking. He's only looked decent as a defensive player, so if he should play, play him in the last 20 mins if we're defending a 1-0 lead or something.

I'd rather my granny played CB than Simmo, he's fine where he is already.

He hasnt looked remotely impressive as a defensive player, because has he even played as one. He's energetic and makes runs into the box, he's like a fitter Nolan.

He's not played CDM. How can you say he's been decent there? Most of his games at Everton were RM so he must have a bit about him to play there

What have you even seen him? At EVERTON most of the times he was playing out wide. Yes he doesn't have Obertan-esque pace but he's no slow coach either, he's got a good engine, very energetic and has decent accelaration. <ok>

This is Norwich we're going up against.I dont think they have any speedy players to note.

  11. Well even though I've seen some good defense qualities in him, fair enough, but I'd play him in the center if anywhere, as that's where his rare sparks of good play come from, not the wing.

  12. I never said he's been played in a defensive ROLE, I said he's looked ok as a defensive PLAYER, meaning he's shown signs of decent defensive quality, like Cabaye has decent defensive qualities as he is aggressive, quite strong and can tackle well. Cabaye doesn't play in a defensive position, but he does some good defensive actions.

In the games I've seen him in a black and white shirt, he's put in some decent, aggressive challenges at times, and held the ball quite well.

Very, very good call. Could give extra protection to the defence, and I prefer Abeid to Gosling.

His two sparks of good play were the missed chance v Sunderland and the goal v City, both from the right hand side. He might be better in the centre but he isnt about to oust Cabaye or Guthrie.

That would be much more open though, although Simpson has coped without protection before I suppose and this would cover the CBs better so maybe it is a good idea. We never play 4-3-3 though, not sure how Jonas would cope that far up the pitch.

    Apologies.

    Thank you ;)

  17. He's not going oust anyone except Smith's spot on the bench.

Pardew will play Ober on the wing, and I agree with that. I'm still going to keep faith with Ober, and I think he can do damage to Norwich.

Possibly, but competition wouldnt hurt him and Gosling is a very good prospect. I know you really dont rate him for some reason, but at his age he stands to improve a lot still.

  19. I do rate Gosling, although he's hardly wowed me, I reckon he could be a great squad player and score the odd goal, but I don't want him on the wing, I want pace on the wing.

Maybe bring Gosling on as a sub for HBA later on...
