The issue we all face from the United States to Russia is that in the 1980s the western and developed nations of this world all transitioned to Reagan and Thatcher esque neo-Liberal societies. Neo-liberalism was praised for rebuilding the economies of two major western powers (US & UK) crippling the Soviet Union and leading to the collapse of the Iron Curtain all within a few years. The nations that left that Iron Curtain almost to a nation either successfully did or attempted to transition to neo-liberalism as well, including Russia. Many consider the 90s to be a time of fantastic growth for many western nations and a time of nostalgia and we all continue to live in neo-liberal nations to this very day. But in '08 it failed and since '08 it has never healed. What do you do when the mass majority of your political, elite and working class grew up in a unified ideology and it begins to crumble? Look at us now. In the UK we have two major political parties that are red and blue but 100% Thatcherite. We have Reform which, when you break them down, aren't really any different at all, they're just a bit more authoritarian. Reagenomics and Thatcherism is old now. The people who helped found those ideals are either dead or in their 80s. As societies we desperately need to wake up and realise that it just isn't working anymore. When you think things are falling apart, you look to the man in the room who seems to have it all under control, right wing authoritarians build their entire lives around the appearance of control. So of course people find it attractive, it's human nature.

Both are ****s with things to hide but it shouldn't have been about them - it should be about their policies. Didn't take an interest in either parties policies so can't comment. That said some of DTs policies seem a bit pie in the sky (similar to Reform) and won't get passed through Congress
