Agree all very strange but it's over..we won't get an explanation well not one that's made public anyway.
It's called player development and it's working as far as I can see TBF. Huge steps and improvements in particular from Jobe, Isidor, Neil and Mayenda. Rigg will have a spell soon where he kicks on and he's doing incredibly well anyway for a 17 year old.
That disallowed goal it's a mystery and would have been scandalous if it had cost us the win. Results like last night and Portsmouth where they are grinding out 3 points while not playing at their best is what promoted teams do imo, the slight concern is we very rarely put the game away with ruthless finishing. On a side note - Derby must employ more stewards than all the other football league clubs put together. Massive overkill I thought.
No indeed. Just to corroborate my theory, you can see in the highlights there's an incredibly brief shot of the 'wrong' lino chattering into his mic in the aftermath of the goal. He's the one who has claimed that Isidor was off in the first phase. The other two have fallen in line.
Oh ****! Let's try again. The top 4 keep winning or drawing. We can't rely on the other 20 teams in the league. They're too inconsistent, so it's down to how good they are on the day, but the permutations (assuming the top 4 teams who are not playing each other win) and assuming we manage to get a point at Elland Road are: Leeds v Burnley: Leeds 3 points, Burnley 0, Sunderland 3, Sheff Utd 3 Leeds v Sunderland : Leeds 1, Sunderland 1, Sheff Utd 3, Burnley 3 Leeds v Sheff Utd : Leeds 3, Sheff Utd 0, Burnley 3, Sunderland 3 Sheff Utd v Burnley: Leeds 3, Burnley 1, Sheff Utd 1, Sunderland 3 So out of the round of matches where the top 4 clash : Leeds 10 points, Burnley 7, Sheff Utd 7, Sunderland 10. We would make up 3 points on Burnley and Sheff Utd, meaning we would just need to match Burnley's points tally from the other games to finish above them and we would need to get 2 more points or improve our GD and get 1 more point than Sheff Utd from the remaining games to go up in second. There. That's better!
As much as it's good to get help from other's, we can only control ourselves. That may seem boring and simple, but is a fact. Look after ourselves and we'll put pressure on the others. 18 cup finals left.
Just catching up with some posts on here. For my two cents.... I don't mind people being critical as we are all, in our hearts, are "couch" coaches. I found myself pointing at the telly telling our players where they should be. It means nowt....Its just opinions. we should all share what we think as this is the whole point of a forum i've been part for 20 years, providing its constructive, respectful and thought out. Where I would agree with Smug...those who just come on when things are not great or some aspects of the game didn't go the way they want is a bit disingenuous..but its their prerogative regardless of how annoying and predictable their comments have become. I think its fair to say we don't want a forum where have a constant "love in" singing Ging Gang Goolie Goolie and Kumbaya after every game. But a balance should struck and a recognition of a win is a win and at this stage its really all that counts.
You didn’t?? You realise I’ve seen 5 cup finals (including the leyland daf or whatever it was) and as many playoff finals in my lifetime. We’ve won 2!! So there are 18 very important league games, or 18 cup finals like our last 2!!
Yeah, no one was offside awful decision and I still believe they were 'convinced' by the Derby players. Saying that when I saw Wilsons shot I was huffing and puffing as I thought he'd hit it too hard again and it was bouncing over the bar. Great finish.
The picture of O'Nien and Roberts is class. I noticed it last night where LON went up to him and put his arm around him then seemed to just encourage him to take a minute to enjoy the moment and appreciate it.
has there been any official report yet? seems offside is now the fave, kept an eye on the lino and he does exactly what he should for a goal, he lowers his flag (i presume this to be a signal that no offence had been seen) and the ref has a look at the lino and heads back to the center...even with VAR if a lino suspects an offside he raises his flag where he is standing (after a goal) then it is checked, only if offside is found he returns to where the offside happened so the fact we did not have VAR really makes no difference. one thing i just noticed on the extended highlights, isidor walks to the ref and shakes his hand before asking about the goal...even though he was totally upset by the decision he still showed respect.
That's the crux of it mate, it's opinions based only on what we all see. What I've noticed is that people will say they'd like Rigg dropped, Le Fée moved inside, Mayenda played on the wing, etc. If that doesn't happen they'll repeat it over and over. The longer it goes on the angrier they seem to become. It gets to the point where they seem to actually believe they're being ignored. In reality, they're not because no one is listening ... ... even if RLB really was listening he'd just ignore them
From the Derby forum today ... 'Sunderland aint it. They looked pretty ordinary to me.' ... how may times have opposition fans said that this season They don't seem to realise what it says about their own team.
We were completely ordinary last night in terms of performance, but we still won and should have won by more. The drive and determination of this team is extraordinary and that's what truly elevates us.
