No I prefered the traditional way with the key that was underneath? It's years since I picked one up, but I bet I could still play "Stranger on the shore" My regt band corporal, had one of those Buffet fancy ones, where as the rest of us used B&H army issue ones, but the b flat (Strange that you should pick that note!) before the break on his pricey wooden one, was so horribly out of tune, flat by almost a semitone, it used to set my teeth on edge.
Not a B&H Regent by any chance? I am the proud owner of a B&H 1010 symphony, no longer manufactured, and to be honest, very rarely played. I do know a clarinetist joke though; How many clarinettist does it take to change a lightbulb? Only one, but they have to go through a whole box of bulbs until they find one that is just right. Well, I found it funny, but I guess it will be lost on non-woodwind people.
They will have to reed between the lines! Yes it was a Regent! I was trying to remember. Wasn't the next best one an Emporer?
Emperor was the first wooden instrument, the inbetween was the Edgeware (where the instruments were manufactured, and where I went on a school trip, before everything went to China) Many years ago, I used to teach the instrument to bring in a few extra quid. During my late teens I was playing in a Windband, a Youth Orchestra and a New Orleans trad band. By the way, I hope that no mods are reading as this may be considered slight off topic?
Ah, don't take any notice of those guys. you can write what you like on here. You must be a far better player than I. I made the second clarinet stand my own. Noone could play the Waltz - 2 3 part, like I could.
Yes, but the Saints Mods can be really strict! I specialised, so no mucking about with Violas for me. I did get a tenor sax as well, but despite being infinitely sexier, I much preferred my clarinet. And I would be reasonably happy with a draw at Fratton Park.
Perhaps the two of them could do a pre-match on the pitch marching gig, just like the old days. What with the Pompey sailor, Nelson our doggy mascot and his missus plus a local majorette group, it would be a site to behold. I now have this impression of Channon as this Acker Bilk type pharping away in his barbershop shirt to 'Oh when...you know the rest
Could not agree more with you and Sweep Rich. so in the interest of resuming normal hostilities.........I will fire an shot across the Scummers boughs...........good to see them returning to form and losing to the bottom club, whiilst magic Pompey secured 3 valuable points as we seek to climb the table aheqd of the derby match when we shall despatch the Scummers in a blaze of glory!
I hope you're right SB3. One factor may be the opposing stikers. They've got a clinical finisher. We've got Dave. That being said, he's played quite well lately and must be due soon.
Perhaps Channon could do a duet with our very own musical maestro - the one and only John PFC Westwood.
Well, I am really surprised that you want to shoot across our trees, SB3? Don't you recognise a naval metaphor when you hear one? Keep digging! We are not 18 places above you by accident, but it may be that you have timed this match rather fortunately. We shall see.
I can see a bit of band forming here, pompeymeowth on the viola, channon on the clarinet , rich on sweeps squeeze box , Westwood on his triangle and SB3 on his piedpiper flute Lol Yep I would pay money to see that
I Think the guy who started this is a bit too cocky ....you cant say well bottle it like we've done previous times because firstly; it was previous times and secondly; we're a completely different side to past times we've played you .......may the best side in red and white win
