Also, and I don't mean this to have a dig at anyone at all, there was a bit of discussion about Mayenda looking a bit down and uninvolved in celebrations near the beginning of December. I think its worth pointing out how happy he looks to be playing now especially with him playing to our fans after the end. Love seeing it.
That goal being disallowed confirmed to me that we are fighting against the EFL as well as the other teams, just like we had to fight against them in the third division when they wanted to keep us there for as long as they could
Happy to go away and take the points whoever we are playing. We do need to kill teams off when on top. Home teams are always going to have a spell and Derby were fancying a point late on having done nothing all game. Really enjoying our midfield nowadays and ELF adding to that. Liked his drop of the shoulder first half just inside their box when he sent his marker off to the shops and went the other way.
I think le fee can get away as a LM purely because hes at a higher technical level and tracks back reasonably well - but not ideal to be forcing what could be our best player out of position in the team. Defo agree that it had to be someone else, probably Roberts from the current bunch on the right (but would like to see aleksic out there as a sub just for curiosity reasons).
I’d like to see him get a stint as the lone striker at some point in games. Feels like he’s getting closer every week.
I've no idea what people want to be honest, Sunderland keep making the fatal error of playing teams that don't want to lose It starts with 'We haven't started fast enough' then move on to 'We need to control possession' ... ... after that it's 'We can't allow them a period with the ball' before we end up with 'We need to keep the ball and see the game out'. That's all lovely but totally unrealistic, a team at 1-0 has no option but to throw everything at the opposition.
I've got low blood pressure, but I could feel my blood count rising massively when the goal was chalked off
I didn't watch tonight due to work, I saw the goal, the misses, the saves from Patto and that shocking decision from the ref. I'm relieved and over the moon to get over the line, Plymouth another game where we should be able to put them to the sword, I keep predicting a rollicking of some poor bastards, I said Stoke away which was ridiculous and I was hopeful tonight, I'll torture myself further and say Plymouth will be the game where we really put it all together.
Give we are better at home this season, it does fill me with confidence. Gotta get Le Fee in the middle, it's hard however because you want Roberts in on Sat and the best thing for that would be Rigg out. Which means Le Fee back on the left. Hoping Aleksic can get some game time, think he could do a job on the left.
It's been suggested on f/book (I know f/book) that the 4th official had looked at monitor and advised on field referee it may have been a hand ball. It fits with what I seen on tv, but if this is what happened then there needs to be some serious reaction from the pgmol as there is no VAR in championship and 4th officials should not be getting involved with onfield decisions after looking at monitors.
Le Fee needs to be central mate, agreed. He could change everything from a central position. The boy looks incredibly talented.
Worst thing about tonight is the bastard officials have robbed me of 3 points in the prediction league
People who leave home games, 'to beat the traffic', may never know how good the bond is between players and supporters ... ... at away games it's absolutely phenomenal and makes all the time, effort and money worthwhile.
