Russia's economy is collapsing, as they plough more and more of their resources into the war with Ukraine. Russia recorded a budget deficit of more than 3tn roubles for the third year running in 2024, the finance ministry said on Monday, with both spending and revenue rising sharply as Moscow ploughed economic resources into the war in Ukraine. The shortfall narrowed as a percentage of gross domestic product to 1.7% – from 1.9% in 2023 – the data showed, but was significantly wider than the ministry’s initial plans for a deficit at 0.9% of GDP. Excluding crucial revenues from oil and gas, however, the deficit widened to 7.3% of GDP, from 7% of GDP in 2023. An easy way for the US to end this war would be to supply Europe with Gas and Oil. It would cripple Russia.
"Gaza...it's a phenomenal location. On the sea. Great weather. Beautiful things could be built over there...fantastic things. Amazing location." Donald Trump @PISKIE looks like you're green-to-go on pitching the water park idea to the new administration.
Where I live has been making a ****ing killing from this war An increase of 130bn dollars a year into the budget just from filling the gap Russia left behind. Germany guzzling that northern gas. That's just profit on profit. Russia can't maintain this war lol, but you know, sunk cost fallacy is strong af
I said from the beginning we should keep our nose out of Ukraine, but I understand why we did get involved, However, that does not change my opinion on my original thought, being wrong has never been a problem for me. What I don't like is when people in the UK sit behind their keyboards and start banging on about sovereignty, freedom, protecting our allies, I don't see those people putting on an army uniform and going and joining the frontline, then and only then may I respect their view. World leaders are always happy to treat the civilians they represent as cannon fodder, but you will not see the likes of Zelenskyy, Boris, Biden, Trump standing on the frontline putting their lives at risk. Young men have been butchered and we don't even know their names, from Russia, Ukraine, Korea and any other country, they are not even a number, they are just obliterated like they never ever existed. As for Israel, I support their right to defend themselves. However, if someone breaks into my home to kill me, and I defend myself with the kitchen knife and kill them instead, it was self defence, but I am still guilty of their death...call it manslaughter whatever you like, but I still killed the sacred life of a human being. That's why I feel the likes of Biden, Netty and any other politicians should be held accountable for the mass loss of children lives, and accountable for the scars that thousands of kids will carry for life. Actions have consequences, it's not for them to decide if their actions of wasting human lives were acceptable. Putin and Zelenskyy should also have the same questions to answer and also be held to account, because all of them are a stain on human history...even if they believe it was in self defence. We saw all this with Yugoslavia, where bombs of peace became acceptable. We saw all this when Bush and Blair blitzed the Middle East, the madness dosen't stop, we have become a stain on this planet. The means does not justify the cause. Edit: I should have said if it wasn't already known, the same applies to Hamas and Iran, regarding being held to account.
You're welcome. Oh and btw, where did you fook off to last night, fooking good job @Saf the cavalry turned up to rescue me! Although I was doing alright... please log in to view this image
I said months ago that those with money would see this as an opportunity to grab prime real estate. It will be dressed up as an international effort to reconstruct Gaza, very little of it will be of benefit for Palestinians. Some Israeli politicians were quite open about Israel building coastal properties for setttlers on the ruins of Palestinian homes Some Israeli real estate firms have even got as far as releasing proposed architectural plans. https://www.aljazeera.com/program/n...state-firm-pushes-settlement-building-in-gaza

I don't know about that tbh. People fail to appreciate how vast Russia is, and how rich in natural resources. It's economy may be handicapped by corruption and grift, but I don't think it's going to collapse anytime soon. It's not economic collapse that will stop Russia's ability to fight a protracted war; if anything does, it will be Russian mothers refusing to sacrifice anymore sons.
Yep I agree. But a lot of that mineral wealth comes from exporting oil and gas, which Europe is dependent upon to a degree. It would put a massive dent in Russia’s ability to fund an ongoing war if the US were to suddenly flood the European market with oil and gas. That how I would have approached it anyway if I was President. Move aside Donny, I’d have had this licked on day one like you claimed you would
I thought Europe had started to wean itself off Russian gas after the invasion. Sure it’s now down to less than 40% of what they used to take from them. The likes of Hungary and Turkey are sympathetic to Russia, they ain’t going to start refusing it. Not sure what difference it had made now they’ve upped their exports of it to their allies. China takes loads more from them than they previously used too and Russia can even afford to pay the little fat one from NK in gas for his soldiers he’s sending over.
