Not finds? Did they all just happen to be on a stag do in Newcastle and decided to sign up at SJP while they were there?
They were already well know expensive players. It's not rocket science to understand the difference between that and finding players before they cost high amounts and what the club did with that list. That's what's missing here and that's why Mitchell rightly described it as not fit for purpose. It's not been sustainable has it. They'll be trying to fix that.
Thing with that is we probably won't see them for a couple of years, because true 'finds' (i.e. PL ready but nobody knows of them) will be very rare indeed. Players with potential talent to be nurtured, yes. But PL ready and unheard of, unlikely. Brighton did it successfully a few times, but for most clubs it's either academy lads or big money. EDIT: we have already signed a few youngsters with big expectations. Pivas and Salia for example.
The problem is thata "find" is always a risk. There was a decent chance the Huijsen or Kerkez would be a flop. I have no idea how many others Bournemouth have signed that haven't worked out. So it's all down to the risk appetite of the club. If we only have £5 and a pack of crisps due to PSR, then we are less likely to take the risks on these "finds". A good scouting network reduces the risk but does not eliminate it
Every signing is a risk no matter what the price. I was so jealous of Manchester United when they signed Veron but he was awful for them. We signed Gui'varch, a French world cup striker and was utterly ****e.
I don't understand this notion. I look across the whole of the league and see talent brought in, immediately play and immediately improve their teams. Murillo, Milenkovic, Aina at Forest - Estupinan, Mitoma, van Hecke, Verbruggen (among many more) at Brighton - Kerkez, Zabarnyi, Huijsen, Semenyo at Bournemouth. Youth is very important and it's impossible as you rightly say to judge NUFC on their new policy yet; Harrison, Shahar, Salia, Pivas, Heffernan, Murphy all need time and an awful lot of luck. But what's just as important is adding to the first team which we haven’t done since Tonali.
100% Although we all know we need a right winger, a right centre backs and a goalkeeper (lol) it surely couldn't have been hard to get one in last summer, one this coming summer and the remaining one the following summer? However, due to PSR, I think the signing of the Greek goalkeeper saved us last year but screwed up this years plan. Oh and Osula rules! Yeah!
