My simple manc solution guide 1. Manager. Think positive, start coaching. 2. Team. Bayindir Dalot de ligt martinez Daillo ugarte mainoo malacia Garnacho Fernandes Holjund Put dalot with pace at rcb, drop the slab and the **** keeper and push that line up Play diallo at rwb and get on with it. Play the lb at lb and don't loan him out you mug. Start selling players off ASAP.
Malacia was wonderfully **** when he played for them . Oh Mourazzi (sp) much better choice than Dalot
Dalot isn't bad and imo has more of a chance playing rcb as he as some pace and can help them get the line up the park. Daillo scored a hat trick from rwb didn't he? Basically my view is find someone with a left footed to play lwb and that is malicia or they buy someone. Just pick someone and keep them in and work to improve is my main advice. He hasnt been consistent in team selection at all. He would be better picking 23 and putting the rest out to pasture right now as well. Get them out of the squad training etc.
With a new system and style and alot of players not fitting it, it will mean they're going to have to spend big again in the summer. Question is can they do that, wonder what their PSR was like. They must have been close as their wage bill is huge and they've spent alot in recent years. Obviously they can save and generate this summer if they manage to sell and get rid of the large amount of dead wood in the squad, this would of course mean a thin squad with alot of players to replace. But that could benefit any potential youth talent they have as there could be more first team opportunities for them. Big sticking block would be a lack of European football should they fail to win a cup this season. Can't see them doing enough to squeak into the European places in the league so will have to be either the FA cup or Europa league. imo they should really go for the EL as it would get them CL and without the CL teams dropping in this year, you already know where the main challengers are. Without Europe next season, they'll be left going down the Chelsea route of having to offer big wages and fees, something they really should be avoiding as it's what's got them into the current mess, or will have to accept a number of seasons rebuilding and a new reality as a mid-table club.
He can just say he couldn't stay there because they're so bad even he can't turn them round. Less damage than if he's there for a couple of years without any improvement like all recent incumbents. Anyway, when has abject failure prevented a manager from getting another job?
Slot has taken some stick in certain quarters for not playing the youngsters enough, but imo he's gone about it the right way, more or less. He's picked teams to win games, and that has meant sticking mostly with the tried and tested players to build up a head of steam and get some good results under his belt. It's a gamble, of course - he runs the risk of burn-out in the second half of the season, but any approach is a gamble so we'll see if this one works out. I think Amorim should have done something similar - chopping and changing too much trying to find your best line-up really takes too long in the merciless PL. He may find he loses the faith of the fans, players and owners before he has the chance to turn it round. Like Chelsea managers before Maresca, though in fairness they did have 437 players to choose from.
Apparently when he was contacted by Man Utd he was told come now, we’re not waiting until the beginning of next season which is what he wanted.
Some managers, constantly rotating is just part of their philosophy. Rafa didn't play the same team twice in a row for 99 matches. (for the 100th he did, which I wonder if he did just to stop the press talking about him rotating for 100 games straight).
Rafa wouldn't do anything for anyone, he chose the same team because he thought it was the right thing to do. Media just tried to make it about them.
imo they should do exactly what chelsea and forest have done and just ignore psr as a 2 point fine is nothing compared to where they are. Spend 500 more and just sell what you can.
it wasn't like he was making wholesale changes. he had a relatively small amount of players and over 100 games you always have injuries and suspsensions too. Amorim over these moths has just picked toally different teams in the same formation with players just shoe horned in trying to find someone who would fit the position not suit the player.
You know what the most spurs thing ever is? The fact that maddison was all over.rluke littler and had the little **** at white Hart Lane in a box and the guy is then pictures at old Trafford parading the big trophy. Classic spurs missing out on a silverware parade again lols.
I think with Slot he had to get off to a good start with us to out to bed any negatives of Klopp leaving and us going through same issues Arsenal and United went through. Klopp had luxury of one knowing the youngsters a lot more and 2 having the backing of the fans and board so could show patience if playing the kids got a few negative results. Ideally be great if slot gave loads of kids a chance develop 2/3 into first team regulars and we were top of league but don’t live in a perfect world. As you say we may burn out, but for now I think he’s taken the right decision. Safety first approach in terms of line ups and hopefully these next 2 CL games and some kind fa cup draws a few of the kids can get game time there under bit less pressure so if they are needed later on theyre ready
20/21 City - 40 injuries, 96 games missed, 720 days lost - 1ST 86 PTS Liverpool - 54 injuries, 243 games missed, 1722 days lost - 3RD 69 PTS 21/22 City - 29 injuries, 140 games missed, 779 days lost - 1ST 93 PTS Liverpool - 39 injuries, 169 games missed, 968 days lost - 2ND 92 PTS 22/23 City - 27 injuries, 62 games missed, 447 days lost - 1ST 89 PTS Liverpool - 36 injuries, 184 games missed, 1574 days lost - 5TH 67 PTS 23/24 City - 26 injuries, 72 games missed, 672 days lost - 1ST - 91PTS Liverpool - 35 injuries, 156 games missed, 1383 days lost - 3RD 82 PTS 24/25 so far Liverpool - 12 injuries, 467 days missed - 1ST 50 PTS on track for 90pts City - 19 injuries, 543 days missed - 4TH 38 PTS on track for 66pts you’re on track to win the league comfortably because you can finally play more of your team more often. More often than City anyway. City have had the the luck of the best injury record of any top team in the last 4.5 seasons. And their freak injury-free season in 22/23 saw them win a treble, no surprise there. Now they don’t have such a good injury record and suddenly they’re not leading anymore. You running them close in 21/22 was possibly the most impressive thing in the league for a good long time given you had more injuries than them that season. 92pts from almost 1000 days missed is crazy. Anyway no team has ever won the league with 800+ days missed at the same time as another team having fewer than that… and city will go well past the 900 mark. As will Arsenal but they’re an anomaly with glaring squad deficiencies anyway. You’re on track for 90pts with about 850 days of absence which is too strong for anyone.
