Whats the news on Puerta... I think I read pages and pages back we had to buy if he played 10 more games... a good few have passed since then...
Three years to the day since Acun bought the club and I don’t think there’s been a single transfer window where I thought the owner, the recruitment staff and the manager were on the same page. ‘Too many cooks spoil the broth’ accurately describes our transfer policy under Acun.
I think the failures of the summer window have been over exaggerated Belloumi, Hughes, Alzate, Pedro, Millar, Drameh, Zambrano, Puerta, Rushworth all seem quality additions Verdict is still out on Kamara/Burstow, but they're young enough to improve and we probably didn't expect them to play the minutes they have. Palmer is a strange one as he never really fit how we planned to play, but he has obvious quality and has won us some important points. I'd say the only real bad signings were Giles, Bedia, Mehlem and Racioppi. One of which was an obligatory purchase and another brought in as back up and never given a chance. Our main problems this year have come from hiring a completely useless manager and some awful luck with injuries.
Not sure I agree. Manager seems to want to trim the squad. We’re also in a relegation battle so bringing players in who are up to speed and ready to go should be the priority but out of our first three signings this January, one hadn’t played a game since October before yesterday and the other two hadn’t played since November and it showed in my opinion. All three looked off the pace and we don’t really have the luxury of waiting for players to get up to speed in a few weeks or months. Every point is crucial between now and May. At least Joseph from Blackpool, if he signs, has been consistently playing this season.
Pedro has 80 Serie A goals. His talent doesn’t surprise me. But the fact that he looked done and dusted and his desire has been brilliant under Selles.
For me it's not only that, but that we've veered back and forth with our squad building every window. Walter wanted a big squad and he wanted very specific players, so they tried to give him that, but then a few months later we're undoing that work because Selles wants something closer to the squad make-up that Rosenior had. We spent all that money on players for Arveladze and then Rosenior came in and wanted rid of half of them. Its so messy. Shota was one mistake, fair enough, but to then veer back and forth again afterwards and still be so far away from where we want to be squad-wise three years in is really poor.
