the press today says that manchester city are lining up a 1 million pound deal for ibe in january on a 4 year deal including a house and car for his family thoughts?
why cant they just F*** off. Ibe will do better staying with us for one or two years like Matty Phillips then sell him for 7.5 million to clear the debt. and get a new owner.
good responce, phillips probably could have done better to stay for longer though, he hardly gets gametime and blackpool got him at a bargain price
if ibe signs for city he will only rot in their reserves and be sold on for peanuts,if he really is that good he should stay at wycombe and gain more match time and more experience and his big time move will come at the right time for him in 3 or 4 seasons time.
That's the dream! But I think we've all been around football long enough to know that we will have to cash in on him much sooner. He will go either in January or the summer and we won't hear a lot about him for the next 2 or 3 years while the youth academy he goes to moulds him into their type of player. He could have played 100 games for us before he even gets near a premier league reserve side. I hope we get to see him with us for the rest of this season before heading off to be a superstar.
What's the most a L1/2 player has been sold for. Are we ever likely to get 7m for him? Question is, if we did sell him for 1m what could we get for that?
If we do get offered a million for him, we will take it regardless of what the fans think. Although stranger things have happened..... http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2011/nov/16/swindon-youth-player-chelsea
if a million could be put into transfer fee's and wages then it could work out a good thing for us, but not jorden...maybe the money and him on loan?
Evening Folks, In order - a) Can't find any statistics for this anywhere, but I'd guess that the £1.7m rising to £3m (yeah, right) we got from Liverpool for Jonjo Shelvey might be the top figure along with the £2m (?) rising to £3m that Norwich paid Huddersfield for Anthony Pilkington. Rickie Lambert cost Southampton 'more than £1m'. Top for League Two may be the £1.1m we paid MK Dons for Izale McLeod. b) Not an ice cream's chance in hell, especially with the generous new set of rules on compensation payments for young players. c) We sold Carl Jenkinson to Arsenal for a million quid and reinvested that in players (Stevenson, Hamer, Wiggins etc.) so they are out there, the problem is, once you've bought them, you've also got to pay them...
If we get offered £1m we have got to take it. Ibe does look a fantastic prospect but how many times do you get offered that sort of money for a 15-16 year old or any player at this level as a matter of fact. I'm not convinced Ibe would be better off at a club that is going through a terrible run and a high chance of relegation. As for Matty Phillips he made the right move, he was behind Ainsworth and Betsy in Waddock's team selection at the time and he played quite a lot of games last year. He started this season as first choice at Blackpool but lost his form and was sent out on loan to Sheffield United to regain form which he did and is now back in the Blackpool first team! Please tell me how he would have been better off staying with us!!!
Thanks for that Tewkes. Right, I've sent the bank details over and asked them to transfer the money tonight.
with a monkey in charge of are club. we are likely to see ibe go. I can only dream of getting the money we would need to get out of debt. and with hayes in charge hes likely to do something stupid.
We need to remember that with the EPPP arriving in the summer, now is our best chance to get a windfall out of him. We'd only be looking at around 100k if we don't sell him in january.
i didnt realise the scousers paid that much for jonjo but he does look a good player, wiggins is a player i know ,my mates boy is his best mate and he has come on well and as you say there are many young stars out there and its up to clubs like wycombe to find them ,the trouble is that this new set of rules doesnt help clubs in the lower divisions when the big boys come knocking and they get them for peanuts.
