I like Norton-cuffy and he would be worth signing, don't think Thomas is worth it I like a lad call Kristoffer Lund at Palermo, very good LB but he might cost too much for a backup
Cuffy looked good on loan in championship previously. Got a feeling we’ve been linked with Thomas before.
Hard to say but it’s a renegotiation of the agreed deal- they know Isidor has done well and is less of a risk so unless the original contract said we could exercise our buy option at any time they’d surely seek to improve the deal from their end.
Hamza Choudbury - may be on high wages and not necessarily primarily a right-back. Brodie Spencer James Hill - Loan James Bree - highly unlikely Harry Clarke
Could buying Wilson now not massively eat into the budget? Sure it was reported we aren’t covering his wages so say we buy him now, we have to pay I dunno £4m plus a wage for someone who’s costing us nothing currently and look to ad other players?
It was reported that we couldn’t pay anything because of financial restrictions with Russian clubs. I doubt very much that’s true, one way or another we’ll be paying for him.
I doubt he’s costing us nothing, I’d imagine we are covering the wages or at least most of the wages. Frigan linked from £7m-£12m but unproven at this level. I think Isidor for £4m is a really good deal (only 24 and proven at the level if we don’t go up this year). Then frees us up for a more creative loan deal, possibly similar to the Le fee one where we’d only suffer the significant cost upon promotion.
I bet Northern Ireland wish they could have a bit of a better spread of their talent across different positions - in a couple of years there’s every possibility that their best three players are all right backs.
I don't get the negativity about Paddy. For me he's a vital player for us. At times he has a bad game, but flair players like him do. Consecutive managers play him cos he gives us something. A lot of the time opponents double up on him because he's a threat, which will leave others in space.
Agree. Might actually be a better player in the PL now he’s matured as teams won’t go out to strangle him.
We've seen enough from Isidor to know that we want to take him permanent. £3-4m is a bargain, he clearly loves it here, his mentality is great and there's a connection between the player and the fans. It's the definition of a no brainer. I'm not sure we need to free up this extra loan space though. We have 1 as far as I'm aware, I can't see us bringing in 2 more loan players. I think we need to be careful this window to some extent. There's no point in packing our squad out with players just to need to move a dozen on in the summer if we go up. I wonder if a winger on loan would be a better option simply because the summer would be a better time to find a long term Roberts replacement - either we're in the Premier League and can attract a better player or we've likely got funds from Jobe/Rigg moving on and can upgrade. Frigan, a winger on loan and some full back cover would be a great window.
isidor... i have no idea what problems there are with buying/loaning players from russia, there could be more problems sealing the deal now rather than waiting? i know we are 'not paying his wage' currently but i suspect those wages would be added on or included in that final transfer fee and if that is the case then closing the deal early should mean we are not paying any extra and zenit do not lose out and that would be a 'no brainer' to me, get the lad in.
That and the fact that his beloved Toon got humped, so wants to spin some negative bullshit about their near neighbours
Wasnt a criticism of Paddy more he needs competition (although i do find him frustrating), more i thought for a period when Paddy was injured, Ba was looking like he could provide that competition.....then it all went wrong for Ba & hes not recovered
