Pro-Palestine protesters will gather for a rally in Westminster on Saturday after police curtailed organisers’ plans for a march past the BBC and near a synagogue.

The Metropolitan Police denied putting a “ring of steel” around Broadcasting House as the forces said officers would be posted nearby after preventing plans by protesters targeting the BBC to gather in Portland Place.

The Met blocked the march from gathering there due to Broadcasting House’s close proximity to a synagogue and the risk the protest could cause “serious disruption” to the Jewish holy day, as congregants attend Shabbat services.

I expect the real reason they tried to go the alternative route was because they wanted to meet up for a nice quiet cup of tea.

I was reading from a guy who fled from North Korea and he was insisting that they would have been sending mainly their elite soldiers.

That's the simplest explanation, and almost certainly the most accurate.

By your own argument, why didn't the West Bank erupt into another intifada? Why were only some Palestinians and some Palestinian leadership factions 'pushed' into extremism by the Accords?

I think you just need to accept the very simple truth that Hamas is batshit crazy and will look for literally any excuse to pursue a course of extreme violence in order to achieve its aims and goals. It has been like this since the 1980s. The Abraham Accords didn't change that one iota and in fact, a surprisingly large number of ordinary Palestinians hold a positive opinion of the Accords:

The reason Hamas doesn't like the Accords is because Hamas doesn't recognise Israel's right to exist, and the Accords confirmed that three (more) Arab nations do recognise that right.

 

Given that he was one of the chief architects of this cycle of violence in the first place, I sincerely hope not.

The man is corrupt, odious and a master manipulator and needs to be confined to the dustbin of history for the sake of innocent children on both sides of the divide.
