Have some thoughts on us and Burnley/sheff U. I don’t watch a lot of the other two so not a totally fair view, but when I do watch them I get the impression they are very well organised teams of really good experienced championship level pros with bits of real quality sprinkled in. I think that’s usually the recipe for promotion. Downside of that imo is when you get promoted there’s a lot of work to be done to stay up and that’s how you end up getting clubs ‘Yo-yo-ing’ between the divisions. With us tho, I think this team has serious potential to keep growing and with a few quality additions, if we could sneak survival in the prem, i really believe we could build something that gets us to that Brentford and possibly even Brighton level. Obviously could be proved massively wrong if we were to get promoted which is still a huge ask anyways. But really have genuine belief in the plan the club has.
Trying so hard not to think about the dropped points. taking off my Sunderland goggles I feel like I watched a future England player in CJ Egan Riley last night. Unbelievable. Never seen such accurate passing from centre back. And a brilliant defender as well. I know he should have been sent off but so should O’Nien the other day when giving a pen away. Refs don’t seem to respect that rule.
Cracking game last night. I've said for a while there's only Leeds on a par with us in this league and we'll be promoted automatically. Burnley escaped with a point.
Proper kick in the balls but a point and a clean sheet away to Burnley is a good result. I don't think Isidor should have taken the 2nd but he did and fair play to him for putting himself forward. We're in a great position, 19 games and only 1 direct rival to play. If we can get some momentum going we've as good a chance as anyone. Burnley btw are ****e.
Wouldn’t have minded Dan Neil getting the ball for the second penalty. Go and win us the game, captain…
If anyone cares for analysis of the penalties his second one was a much better penalty and credit should be given to Trafford For context a penalty has 0.79 xG before taken First penalty finished with an xGoT of 0.59 he made it harder to score Second penalty is xGoT of 0.81 making it a much better shot and closer to the corner
Still can’t shake the feeling of what if from last night and I’m really concerned how much it’s affecting me. it’s absolutely nonsensical because I think a point is a cracking result and we’re right in the fight. I just feel like those penalties lost us promotion, which I know isn’t true. But that’s mental illness for you Going to take some time away from the forums and socials this weekend. Maybe back on Monday when I’m bored at work (lol)
Does that take into account how much Wilson just looked into that corner before he hit it ? The glance gave it away and Trafford had it in the back from that moment unfortunately
I hope Le Bris plays Le Fee in the middle soon. It will mean Le Rigg on the bench but what a good sub to be able to bring on. Together with Le Jobe and Le Neil we will have a fabulous midfield. I don’t think Le Neil should take a penalty. It would probably go about 100 feet over the crossbar. For me, Roberts played well and they had to keep doubling up on him leaving spaces for others to use. Imagine when we have Mundle and Tommy back. Mayenda was excellent coming on as a sub, they couldn’t handle him.
My numbers are based on how well he hit it because the first penalty was a poor strike, yes he could’ve disguised it better not everything has to be a downer
Nothing has been settled yet about promotion. I understand your doom and gloom outlook, I’m bipolar and I can fall into that trap rapidly. Spend time doing one of your hobbies today that doesn’t include sport. Things won’t seem as bad as they’re now in another 24-48 hours. It just takes you more time than most to digest negative events, which missing two penalties in injury time definitely was. You’ll be fine and thinking more clearly soon. Chin up mate.
RLB bringing mayenda on up front and going two up top with 15 mins to go showed some bollocks as well. Set up the first penalty and nearly got the winner so should have paid off for Regis. Big bonus the 442 seems to work well for us anarl, another option for the second half of the season
I cant help but feel there's alot of pressure to get promoted this season, otherwise its going to be a whole rebuild in the summer. The chances of keeping Jobe, Rigg, Ballard, Hume, Patto etc will be very slim, and then of course we'll lose our loan signings back to their parent clubs most probably. Theres no way we'd be able to keep Le Fee Id have been happy with a draw last night before the game but cant help but feel gutted in how it ended. I knew as soon as i saw Isidor lining up for the 2nd penalty he'd miss. Even my lass said when he took the first one how nervous he looked by his body language, and then he just blasted it and hoped for the best. I cant believe he was allowed to do it all again on the 2nd.
