Roberts and now Isidor, you have to ask who is next? I'm sure the club spends time on penalties and understand who can take them and who can't, but I'd say we need someone who can strike the ball cleanly with good accuracy and power. Mundle, Hume or maybe Jobe? Definitely not Cirkin, LON, Neil or Mayenda.
I'm sure Mayenda has taken for the U21s before and taken them well LON I reckon would be ok at pens, wouldn't be confident with the other 2
Think on the basis of the 90 mins, we are a much better side. They forced us into mistakes first half, we created some clear chances off our own back in the second.
I know I’ll regret this but, after last night’s great performance … … which category would you say the majority of your comments fall into?
Positive and negative. We played well for large parts. Took us a while to get going. Obviously blowing 2 points in the way we did, is going to illicit a negative reaction. I mean I suggested that Rigg gets rotated and some jumped on that post. Then many others, said exactly the same, no replies. Was a good performance but a poor one in front of goal.
I just see LON being a side footer not near the corners, Mayenda I'd be worried about his accuracy, great player don't get me wrong but misses some sitters, Cirkin over the bar and Dan Neil would lack the power. That's how it feels to me.
I had to avoid this thread, post match, but can someone summarise what the experts decided? As a wild guess I’d imagine it boils down to … … ‘Spend more money - buy more players’. Oh and, don’t miss penalties.
Heat of the moment you have to think of the bigger picture. None of us were happy first 15 but we took control of it. If something is up for discussion it’s how we balance the midfield because the individual pieces we have are sensational for this level.
They definitely are. For me that's getting ELF central in Riggs place. The latter has been pretty ineffective for a while and games pass him by. Top top player and will be incredible but think he needs rotating more. Now we have ELF that can happy. Might have to go to a more 4-3-3. Injuries out on the left is a bit hindering.
Feels like the winger injuries are holding back something unplayable doesn’t it. Mundle left. May ends right. Dan doing his bit with ELF deep lying playmaker and Jobe running on sounds absolutely stunning.
Nah some sensible discussion. Rigg isn't really producing the numbers or end product and now we have ELF, we should get him central and Rigg can be rotated. Decide a designated Penalty taker (the most common practice in the game) to eliminate doubt on the pitch. Otherwise, as you were.
Just watching some of the sky coverage of our game, I can’t get over how classless Trafford, but particularly CJ Egan-Riley, came across in their post match interview, utter bellends based on that - on the other hand I thought Scott Parker came across well (and I’m not usually a fan), as fair and balanced as can be expected. I just love Le Bris - never any self promotion or self preservation (I don’t know if that would change if things were going badly), no excuses, praise for the other side, classy, respectful, good analysis and calm as you like. Finally, have we ever wronged Curtis Davies? He seems very reluctant to ever give us any praise. It was a bit odd cutting between him saying Burnley had been by far the better side and then McAnuff saying we shaded it even without the penalties. I think Davies was about the only pundit I saw (out of about 15) not to include any Sunderland players in their team of the season thus far (at the midpoint) too.
No, you’ve ignored my question TBF. I was asking if you think the majority of your posts were positive or negative. So no one saying we should spend more money then … … fair enough, I only skimmed through but I thought I saw some posts like that.
Think some, maybe even myself said it would be good to get another striker in the door. That's what RLB wants and has said that in press conferences. Davey Jones has also said it a fair bit. We will bring another striker in I feel. As to your question, depends on sample size and how far you go back I guess. Wouldn't see it was majority on either side.
