I would say an omninously honest reply. But players never slag of managers, they never know when they need a job, so that's a no-brainer.
totally agree with you. would not read to much into what he said. the main focus should be on winning games NOT wage packets and new contracts.
Any player whenever they are coming to the end of a contract, will give a reply like this. They want to give a feeling that they may have other options, without actually saying it, which strengthens their arm with any negotiations they will have for a new contract.
