As stated on the match day thread I think 84 wins it and I think we will end on 83 unless some improvement happens.

    (2ppg form must improve)

So, you think that Arsenal will win?
They will have to drop no more than 10 pts to get 84 and we will have to drop 18 to finish on 83.
Possible of course, but does that seem the most likely scenario to you?

    No, they can win.
    Forest could also win.

I think we are falling short of what would be a comfortable title win and being able to focus elsewhere possibly.

Our form.over 10 games or over 5 games both point to 2ppg which leaves us on 83 of something doesn't change.

However 10 points could be 14-3-1 record in arsenal's remaining games and thst is more than possible for a club focused on the title only (as they soon will be)

    In other words:

    A) we've not secured the league in thr past games as we have let leads slip late in games but neither would we have blown it as so far nobody has really punished us

    B) nows the time to go all in and win the next 4 or even 5 up to the city game. Thst would imo establish a decent gap for the run in.

    C) i don't think defensivey we are now good enough or in deed controlled enough to do much more than 83 points from here.

    Something tactically has to change.

I voted for 83 but thats me being pesimistic - for context i included a shock defeat to Leicester in my calculation.

I think that will be enough for us to win it this season.

Arsenal maximum with 14 games to go is 92.

Forest maximum with 14 to go is 89.

Chelsea maximum with 14 to go is 85.

    City are out of it.

Lfc now have 56 and can add 45 more (Or 101 total)

To see arsenal drop 9 points in 14 games would require 5 draws or 3 losses.

I seriously don't see that coming.

    Key arsenal games.

    Forest A
    Man utd A
    Chelsea h
    Liverpool a

Basically they have some piss easy fixtures left so we are going to be looking to them doing something unexpected around the cl dates.

We simply must win the next 2 v Everton and wolves and make damned sure we have our 9 point gap going into this run in.

Arsenal's fixtures are so much easier than ours I can't see right now where thry drop points on any given day but there's always lists and turns.

Arsenal actually have a good record against the top sides and traditional big sides. It's the next bracket of teams that they-ve dropped points against in the last 2 seasons

February is now a killer in the league, but April is looking like a doddle. Neither will probably be as bad or as good as that though. That said, and it's a HUGE call, but if we can get through these next five league games and win them all... the Title is all over. :emoticon-0138-think

Whereas I would agree it's highly unlikely City will win the title (we have to win just 9 (and get one draw) of our last 15 to guarentee finishing above them), I would still rate their chances higher than Chelsea and maybe equal to Forest. It would have to take a massive coordinate collapse of us AND Arsenal... but they could still win.

I really only rate Arsenal as the only realistic threat to the title- but they're still a big threat.

Look at it another way - City would have to win all of their last 14 games, and we would have to drop 18pts for them to catch us. Not impossible mathematically, but I'm not losing any sleep over it.

    Bump.

2.matches to go and we sit on 83 with the title won.

    Possible outcomes

    83 (hope not)
    84 (hope not)
    85 (possible)
    86 (possible)
    87 (possible)
89 (probably not given we don't care)

Funnily 86 is the most popular answer while 89 was not picked at all.

I'll do the final block of year up tomorrow maybe
