Fookers gave me so much morphine one time I craved it for years after lol...bloody great for sorting problems short term but I was in hospital for mine.
Yeah I use to have Diclofenac, prescribed by my consultant....thankfully somehow I got changed to coxib, can't remember why.
+1 for tramadol doesn’t so much take the pain away, more makes you not give a **** about it as you’re opioid’d up to the eyeballs but it works and +1 for the moving around and gentle stretches too good back pain relief is to lie on your back, with your calves and feet on a chair/sofa. It will open up the lower vertebrae and relieve the spasms in the muscles
You sure this lying on your back works. I was first advised to lie on a hard floor done that and I swear that made my pain 10x worse. I can’t really stretch mate, the chiropractor said he can get my legs raised about 20 degrees before I’m screaming the place down and people normally can go to about 45 degrees before it’s too much, so I think I maybe need to wait a while longer before I try stretching it out.
I’m giving a talk to a couple who are going through living donor transplant tomorrow. They have their op in just over a month. it’s just to go over the process they will be facing and what happens after, medication/pain relief was one of the points they raised as a question in the notes passed to me. I was discharged with three months of Tramadol, so my first point is to get off them at the earliest. for about a week my view background was like the start to Monty python flying circus, was off my tits as @PISKIE put it.
I'd say when taking advice it's worth remembering if it's a slipped disc it effects everyone differently, from severe cases to mild cases and no two cases should ever be treated as the same. So what might work for one, may not work for another.
Lying on your back and trying to raise your legs will engage your abs and the muscles in your lower back, so if you’ve got pain in the lower back it will be agony. but lying on your back with your legs bent at the knees and supported on a chair will give relief to those lower back muscles and should lessen the pain By stretching I just mean very gentle stuff. Like lying on your back and lifting one knee at a time towards your chest , bending forward to touch your toes, sitting in a chair and twisting your torso left and right. But the key is gentle here. Obvs if it’s too painful, it’s too early. But these stretches will help to maintain your mobility.
Failing all that it's one of these... https://www.southtees.nhs.uk/servic...ent-interventions/epidural-steroid-injection/
I know this doesn't help with an injury, but have been doing yoga as a pro active approach to back and hip issues, and it really ****ing works. I just feel less creaky, more flexible, less prone to injury. Plus the breathing bit at the end chills me the **** right out. Come out glowing, and not a twinge in sight. Like I said though, doesn't help an injury.
I’ll try the chair one, resting my legs on it but need a few days because it’ll be a nightmare getting back up and it’s going to be instant pain lying against a hard floor. Can’t do any bending, can’t put socks on or **** all lol
I was considering Pilates a long time ago, think I may have even touched base trying it once or twice but never followed up on it. Certainly need to start something like that or yoga. This is a reality check that age is getting on top now and I need to look after myself more.
Yeah couple lads said that now. Starting to think my Doctor may be **** at his job. I’ve always praised him cos he seems like a canny lad.
After reading the last couple of pages, apologies to Saff as I’ve suffered back problem’s a couple of times in the past, I’m sitting here laughing to myself at what a healthy bunch NOT606 are
