Encouraging signs, Broady, Burns & Phillips playing well. Omari looking sharp too, more shots on goal too. For all their possession first 30, they posed no real threat.
Thats that, looking hopeless and clueless. Goal came from another silly Morsy foul. Broady needs subbing, knackered. And on comes Hirst.
Can someone tell me why we couldnt play our Cup team, gelled well, knew each other. We were strangers tonight.
Disappointing game. At no stage in 2nd half did we really control things. Our passing was really poor, no fluidity, and defense was uncharacteristically shaky. Maybe that idiotic knockdown on Walton badly affected things. Deffo a red card offence. Did Omari execute one pass accurately?
Awful second half. Even worse ref. Not convinced that parking the bus and hitting on the break at home is ever going to do the business for us.
Really frustrating performance and result - especially considering teams around us had lost. Decent first half where we had better quality chances, but neither teams created anything clear cut. Second half, Brighton looked much more assured and deserved their three points. Woolfenden and Greaves had poor games, I thought. Lacked composure on the ball and gave it away. Walton also played poorly - his distribution was shocking, arguably should’ve kept out the opener (not helped by Greaves’ mistimed error), and summed it up by scuffing a pressure free pass out for a corner. Phillips also unconvincing. Attack-wise, nothing really joined up for us. I thought Broadhead had a positive first half with some flashes of skill, but faded. Hutchinson looked a little leggy after coming back from injury, but has to be less selfish in the attacking third. Both number 10s had chances to play through Delap a few times in that first half but lacked the vision. Finally, McKenna got his substitutions wrong. Bringing on two central midfielders to go to 4-3-3 didn’t work. Taylor, in particular, looked a yard too slow for everything. At 1-0 down, arguably should’ve taken off a centre back for an attacking player - but didn’t do it. It’s not the end of the world, as we’ve not dropped points against the teams around us. But this was another chance squandered to get separation from 18th. Next two games … Man City and Liverpool. Can’t see us getting anything against them.
