I wish sometimes that my dad never dragged my little arwse down the Valley. I sometimes think he did it out of spite and recall him saying that he preferred national service to watching us.

We are in a sorry state. It would be so much easier if all cafc fans suffered in the same way as we all do but we do have a small percentage of insufferable planks that make it so much worse!!!

I know where you're coming from there.
During the mid-1970's when I was only a nipper I used to listen wonderingly to various aunts & uncles bemoaning how dreadful Charlton Athletic was, whenever we used to visit their digs for tea and a family gossip session.
But they still used to attend the old Valley, with varying degrees of regularity.
And those were the days when we had Killer of course - and various others, any one of whom we would give a right arm to have in the team now.

Those aunts & uncles (all passed away now, God rest them) never knew they had it so good, compared to the crap we have to put up with in 2025.
The nippers of today won't become the lifelong fans of tomorrow <wah>

I echo the sentiment and feel much like Dick rather bored of it all.

I don’t even crave to get out of this division- I crave the feeling we’re giving it a go. Would be excited with Wycombe’s season for instance regardless if it ends in promotion or not

    Great post @Watameire

Two things grate right now -

    1. The Complete absence of pizzaz & excitement around the club. It’s as flat as a pancake. Even under Dean Holden I’m sure I would have been up at Rotherham tomorrow. Now - no chance.

    2. The dwindling fanbase has left us with a hard boiled nucleus of wallies, who see CAFC as little more than an opportunity to escape the wife’s nagging on a Saturday afternoon. No bar is too low for these wallies.

They are showing no ambition and mugging the fans off, consequently apathy is growing by the day.
