A nice fresh start here in Gloucester, both cars are in the garage. Halfords have checked Mrs PSH's car and yes the work does need doing but have under quoted F1 so the work is being done as I speak! Wrong time of the year for big spending a total of just under £700 for my service and her repairs, Merry Christmas :( Still both required doing;) Going to pick up my car in an hour then going to Halfords in town to collect our free bicycle for purchasing our new house earlier this year;) Then I shall be placing the cycle on a well known online auction house, anyone want first dibs on the bike is worth £98 will accept £75 offset against what I am paying out for both cars :(

Afternoon all, bit chilly in eastern bandit country. Especially as I won't have a working boiler until Saturday, so no heating for a while View attachment 8688 !!! Still could be worse, have an open fire in the lounge and the electric shower is still pumping out hot water. Roll on the weekend and the return of tropical temperatures in the Sandy household!!!!

Just remember back in the day Sandy before central heating! And the only heating was a coal fire or the old 2 bar electric fire with mock flames:) Hot water bottles to go to bed with and enough blankets on your bed that you could not move! Now were talking;)

I do remember my dads old place in Norfolk was like that. Luckily I tend to cope better in the cold than I do the heat. Mrs Sandy is the complete opposite so is not happy at the moment. Or at least I think she's not happy, difficult so tell under all those layers!!!

Mrs H has, with my able assistance of course, just baked the chocolate roulade which featured as a technical challenge on the British Bake Off. I have to say...and it's not just conjugal loyalty prompting this...it looks a lot better than any of the contestants' efforts and even that of the expert, Mary Berry. That's the good news...the bad news is it's gone in the freezer till Christmas!

i went to Germany once to stay with a friend. It was February. I had no idea they lived in a remote farm house, the snow was 2 feet deep, and the house was made of stone with wooden floors. My bedroom had a fire boiler thingy that needed stoking, but the room was huge, and it didn't come close to getting warm. i slept in 4 jumpers, leggings beneath my jeans and 2 pairs of socks! I have never been so cold, not even when i was climbing mountains in the Alps! Brrrrr! i hate being cold!
