We lose a true football genius, Dennis Law has died at 84. Hard to believe. Dennis Law is the only Scottish Footballer to win the FIFA Ballon d'Or, which he won in 1964
He was probably Busby’s most important signing. His goals in his first season saved Utd from relegation whilst trying to rebuild after Munich . He averaged 30 per year over the next 5, helping Utd to rise to the top in England and Europe. He was the scourge of England playing for Scotland. He was SAF’s hero. The greatest Scottish player. All of Utd’s Holy Trinity are now gone. All Ballon d’Or winners.
Law was one of those players that you watched even though he played for the opposition, so many kids copied his pulling down his shirt sleeves and also hurt themselves trying out the bicycle kick , RIP Dennis Law
I missed seeing Law at Spurs for the first time as he was missing for the '68 home game, but I saw him at Palace, first game of '69. One of those players whose presence alone influenced teammates and opposition around him.
Law came from that great era of Scottish footballers post war , I think it was Pat Nevin who said as a young lad you had Football, shipyards or the mines , all successful teams post war had there Scottish contingency
Obviously drunk as **** and the charges against him were dropped due to his health. He's also wrong that Sugar claimed that he took money for Sheringham. Venables said that he did, according to Sugar. The payment was given to Clough's assistant, Ronnie Fenton.
You know Levy Derangement Syndrome is bad when, on the anniversary of Bill Nick's birth, there's people lionising the ubermensch...
Charlton have gone full “inbetweeners” in their announcement tweets, after signing a player called “Gilbert”. Clever! I’m hoping their team coach breaks down on the way to an away game. - an opponent producing a “bus ****ers” video would be comedy gold.
