Crompton is 21 and his contract is up at the end of the season, looks like he won't make it in time which is a real shame because there's a decent footballer being made there.
Hopefully. We’ve produced loads of players who’ve had good careers in L1/2. It’s all a positive for the club
1 100%, most in our academy won't play or make it at us - so then the aim is to help them have the best careers they can. Compton won't be good enough to play for us imo, I know some might disagree with that but he isn't good enough to play for a team at the top of the championship. He is a solid player though and I think he could have a cracking career in the lower leagues. Similar to Taylor and Molyneux in that sense. I love seeing youngsters leave our academy (on our terms) and go on and have cracking careers
Surely he should be playing in League One minimum? Seems to have been scoring regularly for every club he's played for.
I’d be surprised if he wasn’t playing in L1 before long. Doubt he’ll ever have a career in the championship but below that, definitely
As I said OTR the other day, it's exciting as **** being a Sunderland fan. You've got a lot to be excited for even if we don't go up, so many young players that will stay and develop, some are out on loan.
Mate I love what’s going on. If he went up and started spending big I’d be a bit disappointed weirdly.
We’d have to spend for any chance of survival but I’d hope for a good mix of experience and youth who’d develop here
I like Crompton a lot and think he could still make it here , currently only Hume at the club is a better right back imo. ,
