Alan Nixon saying Sheffield United hope to tie up cannon today for loan to buy for 7 million and we’re also keen. But have to act fast as he has to be recalled by midnight
By Alan Nixon Sheffield United are ready to go to £7 million to win the race for Leicester City striker Tom Cannon. Blades boss Chris Wilder is being backed by the new owners to take Cannon and fire his side to the Premier League. The deal has to be done fast as Leicester must decide on recalling Cannon from Stoke by midnight. Sunderland are also keen on Cannon and this is now a test of both club’s wallets and ambitions. Leicester will sell and a loan to buy arrangement should work although anyone buying outright may yet clinch the deal. Stoke would like to keep Cannon but their promotion chances are slim compared to their rivals. Cannon is also settled in the Potteries but a chance to shoot a side to promotion and earn a big move may be too good to refuse.
That would be fair enough. He had a go here, helped out a bit in a couple of games. Hopefully we've helped him a bit too. Good luck to him.
could be a mental day today with news if we somehow win the race as it has to be done today by the sounds as leicester don't want to recall him if no deal is done
Not sure a deal would be done today, but we can at least put the rumours to bed if he's still at Stoke by tomorrow morning.
If Nixon is right, and that's the biggest IF possible, then Sheff Utd offering a buy outright might trump us.
If Sheff Utd get Cannon then that might open up the door for us to get BBD from Southampton. Either way I think we are in the market for a decent name and not just this young Croatian lad
I think Nixon means that Sheff Utd are offering a £7m loan to buy based on him saying that anyone offering an outright buy would be preferred. He's just a ****e writer (and a worse journalist...)
BBD doesn't want to go anywhere but Sheff Utd and has said if it's not there he is happy to stay at Saints for personal reasons
Best for all parties imo. He won’t get any stick from me for it. He tried, he’s just not what we needed
think the cannon ball fooder has gone, we have tried every window since being back in the championship to get him and he hasnt come, think we will go after different targets.
Don’t want to falling be into the trap of people coming who don’t really want to be here again either, was never sold on the idea of him anyway think we need to focus on the right hand side ideally, good player none the less and will massively strengthen them though
Yeah that’s the right thing to do. We have to make sure that we’re seen to be consistent, fair and reliable. Just like how we just stick with providing a youth pathway, we must be honourable in how we treat our players. That means letting a player go if we promised to, even if we don’t quite get the price we wanted - and allowing a player to seek regular football rather than holding them to ransom over a relative pittance.
