Loan deal nearly agreed for Okkels but won't be ratified just yet as we are hoping to drum up interest and get a potential loan with obligation/option to buy and secure higher wage contribution.

Bowler - was not even on our radar until PH arrived so no blame at the feet of PR (for this one at least).

Not just loans for January - perm players targeted as well as loans. Expect a striker (with 1 possibly out permanently)

Specialised prem youngster for LWB very much being targeted and discussions already advanced.

A previous player of PH very much on the radar.

1 new contract already agreed, just waiting to be signed. 1 more close.

Clubs sniffing around a few of our OOC players and we are willing to do business on 1 or 2 of them to take nominal fees - think of a certain Blackpool hating centre midfielder as one (possible Championship move).

Osmajic generating interest - a lot of it!

Huntington testimonial at end of the season to coincide with a few landmark occasions in the club's history

Young goalkeeper Tommy Davis has joined Ramsbottom United on a work experience loan, which will run until 1st February 2025.

The 19-year-old has gone straight into the starting XI for the Rams, who face Squires Gate this afternoon in the North West Counties Football League.

Ramsbottom, managed by former North Ender Steve Wilkes, currently sit second in the league table and level on points with table toppers Bury.

It’ll be Tommy’s second experience out on loan playing senior football, following a brief spell with Bamber Bridge earlier in the 2024/25 campaign.

    Good luck, Tommy!

Preston North End are delighted to confirm Lewis Gibson has joined the club for a seven-figure fee from Plymouth Argyle.

The central defender has signed a deal at Deepdale which will keep him at PNE until at least the summer of 2028.

Lewis, 24, has made 72 appearances in the Sky Bet Championship during his career and has captained Plymouth Argyle on a number of occasions this season.

Lewis said: “I'm delighted. It's been a whirlwind 24-48 hours, but I'm really happy to be here. I’m really excited for the challenge and I can’t wait to get going.

“I feel like the club over the years has been a very stable Championship club. It's a project now where I want to take it to the next level and try and break it into the top six and potentially go ahead.

“I've got real excitement and a real fire in the belly about getting going. I can’t wait to get out there, especially at home and playing in front of the home fans to show them what I can do.”

Lewis came through the ranks at Middlesbrough and Newcastle United before moving on to Everton in 2017, the same summer that he lifted the FIFA U17 World Cup trophy with England.

After four loans spells in the EFL, the defender joined Plymouth Argyle permanently in 2023 and went on to make 63 appearances for the Pilgrims.

He’s now taken the No.19 shirt at Deepdale and will be available to make his debut in the Emirates FA Cup third round clash against Charlton Athletic on Saturday 11th January.

Manager Paul Heckingbottom said: “Lewis is a really good defender who we’re delighted to have been able to bring in.

“We’ve beaten a few clubs to his signature so I think he’s excited about what he’s walking into here and likewise we’re excited to add him to our squad.

“He’s a player who the fans will quickly see is very capable with the ball at his feet, but he’s also someone who just loves to defend and he’s shown that he can do that to a high level in the Championship.”

Everyone at PNE wishes Layton all the very best for his loan spell.

Kaedyn Kamara will spend the remainder of the 2024/25 season on loan with Marine.

The 19-year-old midfielder, who made his professional debut for PNE in January 2023, spent time out on loan during the first half of the campaign with Workington Town and he’ll now gain further experience with Marine.

The Mariners, who earned promotion to the National League North in the 2023/24 campaign, currently sit 22nd in the table and are looking to retain their sixth-tier status.

Kaedyn has featured regularly for North End in the Central League and Premier League Cup this term, after having an option exercised in his contract at the end of his two-year scholarship.

    Good luck at Marine, Kaedyn!

Preston North End are delighted to confirm Andrew Hughes has extended his stay with the club.

The left-sided defender has signed a deal which will keep him at Deepdale until at least the summer of 2026.

Hughesy, who was due to be out of contract at the end of the current campaign, has made 241 appearances for PNE since his arrival in Lancashire in 2018.

Hughesy said: “I’ve really enjoyed my time here up to now. For me, it was a case of looking to extend my stay.

“It’s not easy to stay at a club for such a long period of time and the level as well. On a personal note, I’m really pleased, but it would be nice to achieve something as well.

“I think everyone’s really enjoying playing football. Everyone’s pulling in the right direction so we’re in for a good second half of the season.”

The 32-year-old began his professional career with Newport County before making the step up to join Peterborough United in 2016.

After two years at Posh, the defender signed for North End and has consistently featured for the Lilywhites over the course of seven seasons.

Within the current PNE squad, no player has made more appearances for the club, and the new deal will give the Welshman an opportunity to reach the 300-game milestone.

Manager Paul Heckingbottom said: “We’re happy to tie down Hughesy for another year because he’s an important part of the team.

“He offers us some flexibility and I think over the years he’s really established himself as a Championship defender. Hughesy’s started every league game for us this season when he’s been available which speaks volumes.

“Everyone knows we were keen to add to the backline, and that’s why we brought Lewis in, but there’s also players here who we want to move forwards with us and Hughesy’s definitely one of them.”
