In the newspaper today that the two groups most likely to be radicalised online are teenage males and males in the 65-80 range... Boomer edge lords being radicalised by the daily mail, ha. Strange that women aren't so easily radicalised, but I'd guess they are a lot more susceptible to advertising and influencers.

That is a total minefield, and certainly not for this board. Newspapers have a vested interested in promoting that line, and it's very much open to debate as to what constitutes 'radicalism' and what parameters they set when investigating.

Things dismissed as radical or conspiracies have a nasty habit of turning out to be based in truth, with those opposing it being far more guilty of misinformation and radicalisation, and often at the expense of the weakest and most vulnerable in society.

The mainstream media don't like social media because, as other global players learned, they like to set the newsreels for the day, and social media reduces their ability to control the agendas and narratives. They are often fact checked and found wanting.

Did you ask ChatGPT to do a post for you imagining what a conspiracy theorist would say? I'd love to hear which conspiracy theories turned out to be true? Faked moon landings was it?

When you ask a question like that, you are pretty much confirming at least one of the points I made.

You've also managed to ignore all the key points, presumably in the hope of diverting away from them. :emoticon-0105-wink:

Id put a fair bit of money that the proportion of stories in reputable MSM being true is significantly higher than the proportion of stories on social media being true.

Social media has its place to keep MSM on its toes of course but let’s not pretend it’s a go to place for factual news.

Thank heavens I never said it was. That seems to be you joining others in trying to create misinformation and conspiracy theories instead of addressing the actual points raised. :emoticon-0105-wink:

I've had more than enough direct involvement with the media to treat any articles with a fair degree of suspicion, and I tend to dig as far as I can for the core source of any information.

Aaaand, as expected, the main points missed in favour of personal attacks. I wonder how many people still fall for those diversion tactics, and how many see them for what they are. :emoticon-0142-happy

Your first sentence seemed to discourage discourse, and yet now you're encouraging it?

I mean I'm happy to start by pointing to the overwhelming statistics around men, violence, hyper-sexualisation through pornography and video game culture, leading them to the fringes of social media platforms to follow the likes of Andrew Tate and Jordan Peterson who teach them that if women aren't giving them what they want then it's the women that are wrong not them. The men who end up locked in their bedroom for 20 hours a day gaming, masturbating, producing online content, or just ranting online about how the woke elite want to ruin everything they grew up loving. But I presume you don't want to talk about any of those aspects of culture and will instead insist that that's just a MSM imagination.

Yeah your passive aggressive response really helped the discourse didn’t it?

We could do this all day DMD, I could pick up on a point you apparently didn’t make but it very much seemed like you did - but rather than expand and explain what you meant instead you could try and make me look an idiot.

Im not interested in spending a day like that. Shame really as there’s some decent discussions to be had.

and that is where things like tiktok are so dangerous
it was designed to cause destabilization in the west (that i fully believe)

    but the way it works

you watch something.. the algorithm then shows you similar things about the same subject

they are very short videos, theres no debate, or actual discussion, its one sided stuff
and then all the comments are agreeing with you too as the algorithm all brings them together
it makes a massive circle jerk and i genuinely believe its essentially brainwashing

Absolutely. It impacts both men and women but the difference is women are impacted by tearing down their self-esteem, leading to anxiety, self-loathing, eating disorders, etc. In men it's just as insidious but has impacts on their behaviour towards others and how they treat others. Both are brainwashed, but only one has an impact on the rest of society. Does that make one worse than the other? Not necessarily.
