Yeah I've been beating the no European sides in league cup drum for years. Literally loads of things you could do before scrapping cup replays. Or, and I appreciate this is a crazy idea, just ****ing get on with it? You have squads of 25+ these days. Use it.
Has there been many protests against the expanded European competitions btw? These clubs are all against extra games so must have made loads of noise about it.
I suppose an extension of debate regarding replays, is a debate regarding ET. If you're going to scrap replays, should ET also be scrapped? By scrapping replays but keeping ET, you're essentially benefitting the bigger clubs twice.
I noticed that Villa didn’t wear their first team strip against the Hammers and now Arsenal are not wearing their first team strip either. Are these clubs so strapped for cash that they are playing in their 3rd (?) choice strips to boost sales, or is there another reason?
Saw a suggestion on another board along the lines of it there's more than a two division gap then a draw sends the smaller team through.
This would be tolerable. I still think replays are better for smaller clubs but at least they have a decent chance on penalties.
Not many upset this round of the FA cup then. Plymouth beating Brentford and Doncaster beating Hull the only ones?
