9 years ago today since Lemmy passed away, been having a bit of a Motörhead night. What i would give to see these just....
The only time I had the opportunity to see them as the classic lineup of Lemmy, Eddie and Phil was 1982 when I was at school. Unfortunately, for reasons that even now I can’t comprehend, I was going through a Motörhead are **** phase. It lasted about six months and coincided with the tour. A quick internet search shows that I could pretend I was there though. https://imotorhead.com/tour-history/1982-03-22/
They played the City Hall 3 nights on that tour, 22nd, 23rd and 24th March. I went on the Tuesday (23rd) and they were awesome. I was in my last year at school so couldn't afford to go the three nights. The band and the whole back line were lowered down from the ceiling during the opening of Iron Fist. Couldn't hear for 3 days. Great times.
Respect mate. Looking back I was probably being a bit pretentious. Every Saturday I would go to the rock and metal night at Newton Hall run by the RMSS (if you lived in Durham around then you’ll know!). The prevailing style around then was Toto, Journey and Foreigner and such bands. I was most likely desperate to fit in I would try to like them. I grew up eventually and figured out that it didn’t matter what others liked it was what I liked that mattered.
Ian Dury and the Blockheads kind of sums the honours list PS I could not find the live Xmas recording made around this time but this one is a close second, one of the great live band,
Popped in my head today and it’s stuck there, Not my type of music back then but for some reason I liked this.
In my opinion, this bloke is an absolute genius. This is more than just music, it’s a vehicle to demonstrate his ridiculous talent, and his struggle with mental health, it is complete theatre, but hopefully will help anyone not feeling 100% His backstory is heart breaking and well worth a read.
From one of the Holy Trinity of Dylan albums Clocky: Bringing It All Back Home Highway 61 Revisited Blonde on Blonde Cheers for posting but I am biased
