I've never had Turkey bacon so I looked it up online, made pretty much the same as your average priced bacon, contains water and nitrates. You can avoid water if you don't mind paying more for your pork bacon, you can only seem to avoid nitrates if you buy the naked brand. Your average meat content for turkey with water is 85%, and 87% for pork....the latter rises to 97% without the water with the higher price, but it's also more specific on the meat cut.

So in summary there's not a lot of difference in it's production.

Would I buy it, due to the healthier benefits, well it's still processed meat, so not overly tempted to try it, but who knows, will let you know if I do though.

As said, it's ok... just not as good as real bacon. I wouldn't eat it as a side, or on it's own. If you just eat a piece of turkey bacon, it's not that great. The taste is fine, it's the mouth-feel that's off- doesn't have the correct texture. Where it's good as a substitution for real bacon is when chopped finely and mixed in with things... where you want a bacon flavour but don't need the actual bacon texture/strips. It's cheaper... it's marginally healthier, although I wouldn't call it health-food.

As I said, where I use it, is if I pan fry some Brussel sprouts, I usually hand finely chopped fried bacon in with them. You really can't tell the difference between bacon and turkey bacon in that scenario. In a sandwich, unless you have lots of other fillings, you would notice the difference. If it's full of other things, especially some wetter ingredients, you might get away with it.

Not had bacon in ages, but succumed to temptation this week because the expensive brands were on offer, thick cut as well, yes! Although I'll believe the thick cut when I actually take it out the packet.

It's hard to get decent bacon in the US where I am (not impossible, but hard). Nowhere near as good as the bacon in UK. Much fattier and saltier than bacon in UK. The streaky bacon is much more white than pink.

Yeah I never use to like their bacon out there, I'd tolerate it but went more the scrabbled egg and tomatoes and chipped potatoes. There used to be a nice breakfast place on one of the keys, they did skillet and it was bloody lovely, always packed at breakfast (with Americans). Although one of the hurricanes wiped it out, so I don't know if they rebuilt it. There was another nice breakfast place along that same stretch, Mangrove Mikes.

I tried your crispy bacon when I was in America just outside Las Vegas (Loughlan I think it was called) it was like burnt grease proof paper, the only holiday I have been on where I have lost weight, I know I should not judge America just by that area but the best meal was a Pizza Hut takeaway Pizza
