Such an accurate headline! This makes even the Fail look OK: HULL 1 - LEICESTER 2: ROBERT KOREN CLIPS NIGEL PEARSON'S WINGS By James McMath ROBERT KOREN said he could not blame old boss Nigel Pearson for joining moneybags Leicester â but enjoyed ruining his return to Hull. "Itâs difficult for our fans to understand that but we all agree if any one of us will get more money somewhere else everyone will make that same decision." Pearson became East Yorkshireâs Public Enemy no.1 last month when he left his young Tigers team to rejoin a Foxes squad full of high earners. He was given plenty of stick on his return to the KC Stadium. But Slovenian midifielder Koren said: âItâs difficult for our fans to understand that but we all agree if any one of us will get more money somewhere else everyone will make that same decision.â Koren showed Pearson that moneyâs not everything with his sublime winner in the 88th minute. Leicester had looked like earning a point after Matt Mills was sent off for denying Aaron McLean a goalscoring chance. Matty Fryatt scored the resulting penalty to put the Tigers 1-0 up. But that lead lasted only 10 minutes thanks to Paul Koncheskyâs equaliser. Caretaker boss Nick Barmby, 37, is still contracted as a player and Pearson said: âThis is Nickâs local club and Iâm sure if he does take it on heâll learn quickly.â http://www.dailystar.co.uk/football...r-2-Robert-Koren-clips-Nigel-Pearson-s-wings/
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...Pearson-suffers-defeat-return-KC-Stadium.html Highlights include... Pearson's new side had looked like earning a worthy point after Paul Konchesky's neat curling finish five minutes before the break had cancelled out Matty Fryatt's controversial 28th-minute penalty. That spot-kick was awarded after referee Simon Hooper harshly adjudged Matt Mills to have fouled Aaron Mclean in the area and dished out a second dismissal of the season for the Leicester skipper. The reporter should have just watched the Football League Show rather than make it up!
Right, mate - I watched the FLS yesterday and it was obvious that Mills took the ball and then, fearing McLean was going to get back on the ball, tripped him. Split-second stuff. A good ref, for a change!
Anyone who watched FLS could see plain as day that Mills tripped McLean. It was 6 yards out and Mills was the last man and the ball was there to be played so it was also a red card. Harsh rule but the ref got everything right.
As you say a clear penalty, ref got it spot on. On another note the more I see Koren's goal the better it gets, to let the ball come across his body and make such a good strike really takes skill. Let's hope we can extend his contract.
Thanks for getting in touch. I’ll just have to hold my hands up to that. Howard Wheatcroft, Sports editor, Daily Star
from where i was sat it was a stone wall penalty. the ref got it spot on. in fact all 3 decisions were spot on. nice to have a match ref who knows what he is doing for a change. well done super dooper Ref.Simon Hooper. Matt Mills had to go. end of. at least the paper holds up its hands for that printing error. reporting goes down to an individuals opinion of the match.
Ominous what Koren says in the interview though IF the quote is accurate - clear message that he's open to joining another club if offered more money, which I don't blame him for given the stage of his career that he's at, but I just hope we can make it worth his while to stay around for at least another year - he's quality !!
ADAM PEARSON said before the season started that Robbie Koren had one LAST big contract to play for. Now is he good enough for the PL if City were to get back there this season ? WBA did not think so when they went up. If we dont go up then will City offer him enough ? I for now just want to enjoy the season and worry about contracts and deals next summer. I guess Koren will stay if a new deal was offered and he liked it. We shall see in due course.
Unless Koren is desperate to go back to Slovenia I think City should not only push the boat out to keep him, but also offer him a coaching job when he quits playing. He has great experience at all levels of the game so he's just the type who would fit the 'boot room' ethos.
We must also give Nigel Pearson some credit because he has stated he had "no argument against the penalty decision". Honest man even if he is a Judas
NP was Ice Cool on satdee. But its over with now and time to move on. Up the league and show NP what he gave up for the money.
