Yeh I'd much rather be buying a Bentley car, half a kilo of Peruvian flake and a greggs steak bake but life innit

    ****in cars man.

Power steering has gone on the missus car, so naturally first place to check is the power steering fluid. But some bright spark at VW decided to put the reservoir underneath the battery. No little plastic pipe coming off of it with a nice handy filler cap at the top of the engine bay, no.

So the battery has to come out. But wait for it, the battery is in a tray that is screwed to the body of the engine bay and the various bolts holding that in place is also holding the air filter in place, so the air filter has got to be detached also.

Add to that, that most of the bolts are rusted in place and need a good jollop of plus gas and considerable brute force and what should be just topping up some fluid is a total **** of a job

They do as it goes. Hydraulic brakes run with oil in the cables. Another bitch of a job to bleed them and change the oil.

Yeah but you don't usually have to unbolt the whole feckin tray and the air filter to get to the power steering reservoir
