Just seen that Zukerberg has ditched fact checking for Facebook because Trump was upset at what he saw as right wing bullshit being called out.

    That'll go well then.

Yes you are you selfish ****.

In all seriousness, it's worrying. You have people getting hoodwinked into this nonsense day after day.

People like Musk and Trump and their followers know they can say whatever they want and it will get retweeted a million times without anybody bothering to check whether it's true or not.

It takes time and effort to dig beneath the surface and find out the facts for yourself. A lot of people just want a 20 second tik tok vid to tell them what's going on in the world.....

Hope is an emotional temper that emboldens the heart to be active, it is a condition, a mood, an aura of being. It is a feat of the imagination, both courageous and ingenious, a vitality that inspires us to take innovative action to defend the world. Hope is essential to our survival and our flourishing.

We achieve this vitality of spirit by rejecting the relentless promotion of despair and opening our eyes to the beauty of things, however imperilled, degraded, or difficult to love the world may appear to be. We try to view the world not as it is packaged, presented and sold to us but as we imagine it could be. We do not look away from the world, we look directly at it and allow the spirit of hope - the necessary driver of change - to inspire us to action.

Same mate. It's why I ride my bike, go surfing and take myself off camping.

I take an interest in what's going on in the world, but there's **** all I can do to change any of it, so there's no point worrying about any of it.

There's a lot of good things that happen in the world too, they just don't make the headlines.

Pretty sure that in the world where real women look after the kids and the home, real men have jobs. Which I’m sensing might be a problem for you

Not wrong. If I hadn’t just become a granddad, I’d be happy to laugh while the whole ****house goes up in flames.

Which it very definitely is, but on the other hand my granddad lived through two world wars (and one World Cup).

I'm like this and it's also why we really shouldn't have leaders over a certain age. Look at the mo, Trump, Putin, Biden all world leaders of a certain age. I think you become a danger the older you become in power. Even Hitler was in his mid 50's. Trudeau the longer he was in power the more dictator he become and he's 53.

Edit: Can't believe I forgot to mention Netty, the biggest lunatic of all, aged 75.

While I'm not excited about the political direction the US and much of the world is heading in... I am reminded that things are all cyclical and we've had a good run so far. No major wars, I don't know anyone personally who died due to violence, famine, or government overreach.

If democracy survives another 4 years, then even if the next 4 years are bad, things will get better...

If course saying this after reading about Trump talking about annexing Canada, Greenland and Panama during his next term.... Won't be much world peace if that happens.

Sure... Tax Lego to make them too expensive so that we can setup new companies in America making Freedom Bricks... Available in all colours except communist Red.

Blue is a bit suspect too as it's the colour of Biden/Harris political party.

I guess all bricks will be orange, the colour of freedom

This is the key point about tariffs tho, all it does is increase the cost of importing stuff, which means domestic suppliers will ultimately have to increase their prices. As always, the only person suffering in all this will be consumers, who will have to pay over the odds for products.

Small businesses will especially suffer, which ultimately benefits the massive corporations who can devour the market.

Oh I agree with you 100%. The world went through this before and it was bad for global economy. The dissolving of tarrifs is what caused a lot of the growth over the last century.

We're putting up walls and things will be worse for everyone. I was merely poking fun at what the MAGAturds are hoping for.

I fully believe the whole world would be better off with no tarrifs between borders.

Take the automotive industry. US has much smaller choice for the consumer than the UK in no small part because it's been a heavily tarriffed industry for decades. Lots of brands won't even release vehicles over here. Average cost of a new vehicle in the US is $50k! Which yes, US buyers do tend to buy bigger vehicles than Europeans, but they also buy more basic and less luxurious models.
