There was a national enquiry into child sex abuse (wider than just grooming). It reported in October 2022. It had about 20 recommendations. Guess how many have been implemented? (No prizes). This is why I hate the Tories - they don’t DO Anything. Labour haven’t either, though say they will. Starmer cocked up again, he is politically inept. He was trying to say the Tories should stfu since they did nothing about it. Idiot managed to appear to call everyone who has concerns ‘right wing’. If you read it carefully, he didn’t, but impressions are everything in politics. He’s not very good, I’m afraid. The thing I’m not sure about is - what would we get from a national enquiry specifically into grooming? The SCE one took 7 years to report, why don’t they just get on and implement it?

The inquiry was a smokescreen. This is the biggest grooming/rape by gangs on a nationwide basis that the UK has ever seen, it should have an inquiry solely based on this. The inquiry didn’t include any of the Northern towns specifically, apart from a little shout out to Rotherham. What happened in Telford was horrific. Telford never made the report. I’m very happy that recommendations have been made in general about the safeguarding of children and we should have absolutely already implemented these. No excuses. That’s still a separate issue to these gangs, though. The report doesn’t include what the general public would like to know… How many of these involved in the gangs were non-British and deported after sentencing? Will charges be brought against any MP’s, Councillors or police officers that were found to have been involved in covering this up? I want to know the numbers involved up and down the country? Why were people in authority ignored when they spoke out? An inquiry will bring out accountability, answers and closure. The victims and families deserve this, at the very least.
I agree with your point about authorities that may have covered it up. My concern is we can’t wait for 7 years while another enquiry reinvents the wheel, covering the same ground as the last enquiry. I am not sure people want an enquiry like that, they want answers to the sort of questions you pose here. That doesn’t have to take 7 years. and there is a lot of overlap with the grooming/rape cases and CSE generally, they are not two different things. be nice if a few actions were taken

No Justice, when a hurty word or two, directed towards the majority who commit these crimes, Pakistani men, gets a longer sentence than the barbaric animals who commit the crimes. We have laws in place to deport if jail time is over a year, stop taxpayers money being spent on appeals, they knew the law and consequences, man up and take the punishment only then would there be less of these crimes
