Wasn't too keen on How I Got Over, I'm not really liking the trend in recent years of 'rap for the verse and sample singing for the chorus' especially given how often it's used; it grows pretty tedious for me. I enjoyed Things Fall Apart quite a lot though.

 

So The Roots come recommended? Got them on my to listen to list after stumbling across a few songs I liked, but not got around to it yet.

 

I'd definitely say give Things Fall Apart a spin. I took it on recommendation that it was the best one to go for first and that worked well for me.

 

The song structures were generally pretty predictable but what I love about HIGO (this applies to most of their albums, but it's most noticebale on HIGO), was it's ability to be thought-provoking as well as being easy to listen to. I liked the overall concept and how it flowed from first song to last. Undun is supposed to be the opposite concept to HlGO (hence the title) so that should be interesting

It's by no means their best (Things Fall Apart, Phrenenolgy and Game Theory are all better and more interesting) and is probably their least innovative, but it still gets plenty of spins from me.

 

Will definitely be getting the new one, I wouldn't say I disliked HIGO but I felt it lacked musically. I didn't give it enough time to pay too much attention to it lyrically though so I'll certainly have to take up your comment on it being thought provoking and give it more time.

 

The content is really nothing new but the execution makes it interesting to me.

Black Thought is probably the most consistent rapper of all time.
