Haven't won a series against India for 10 years - home or away. India have won the last 4 and look like making it 5...
What a delightful ground to play a Test Match at. It is like many county grounds were 60 years ago before all those concrete stands appeared.
Fairly new International ground too after Lancaster Park got damaged in the Christchurch earthquake Far cry form the concrete bowls in England and particularly Australia .
Should be an interesting final day at the MCG tomorrow - a rather stubborn unbeaten last wicket partnership of 55 between Lyon & Boland sees Australia end the day on 228/9 - an unexpected lead of 333. The highest successful run chase in a Test match there was 332, way back in 1928... Now I've got to somehow stay awake for the Cardiff match this afternoon. It's a tough life...
An exciting end after India looked to be comfortably heading for a draw. 3/112 at tea, India lost 7/34 in the next 20 overs - including a the rather controversial dismissal of Jaiswal. Given not out by the umpire when caught behind, a review confirmed that when no noise of ball hitting bat was detected by technology - but the TV umpire overturned that when footage showed the ball clearly deflecting away from the bat. Unusual decision - one that appears to have the Indian nation up in arms.
At 17 I was working in a concrete gang and pretty clueless. Imagine half a million squid (plus other winnings) under your belt. Seems levelheaded too, as it can go to your head at that, and I guess any age.
Australia v India Test in Sydney is getting interesting after just two and a bit days. India all out for 157 in their second innings, giving Australia a target of 162 to win. Not going to be easy for them, even though India's top bowler, Bumrah, is out of action.
Although India got 2 key wickets quickly pretty comfortable for the Aussies in the end . Good debut for Webster runs wise .
Should be fun if this is approved. The city of Rockhampton is hoping to host the rowing events in the 2032 Brisbane Olympics. One small problem - the Fitzroy River, which runs east-west through the city, is home to saltwater crocodiles . I dare say a few world records will be set... https://www.abc.net.au/news/2025-01...ould-host-brisbane-olympics-rowing/104849962?
Synchronised wins for Australia in the cricket - as the men wiped the floor with Sri Lanka, the women finished wiping the floor with England at the same time.
