the rule at the moment is it’s definitely handball if it hits the arm of the goalscorer. For the assister its only handball if its deliberate.
didn’t see it mate. If he was the scorer, that’s why. If it was the assister the ref / VAR must have deemed the handball deliberate
Bear in mind until 6-7 years ago technically you could score a goal with your hand if it wasn’t deliberate . Luckily that rule got changed as refs would never give a goal for that.
It would be easier for refs if they made every handball, deliberate or otherwise, be handball. But then you’d have the **** scenario of a penalties being given away when the defender had no chance not to handle it. Personally as a former ref I’d like to see deliberate handball be a direct free kick and accidental handball be an indirect free kick. That way you avoid situations like in the Newcastle game this morning, whilst also ensuring penalties aren’t given for accidental handballs
Guarantee it’s a free kick to the mags the other way around. VAR would’ve intervened. Not sure when the rule changed as last season, any goal as a result of a handball, whether scored by or otherwise, was disallowed and rightly. That doesn’t hit his hand, they don’t score. As I say, no way Spurs score that goal
think it’s been 2 or 3 years that it’s had to be the scorer. 10 years ago it wouldn’t have even mattered if it was the scorer if it wasn’t deliberate found it - changed in 2001 https://www.theifab.com/news/annual-general-meeting-2021/ it’s handball if: “ scores in the opponents’ goal: directly from their hand/arm, even if accidental, including by the goalkeeper; or immediately after the ball has touched their hand/arm, even if accidental. Accidental handball that leads to a team-mate scoring a goal or having a goal-scoring opportunity will no longer be considered an offence.”
Really enjoy watching Brighton. They’ve got lots of fun players. Arsenal bore the tits off me though. For all their talent they’re an absolute grind. A team full of bellends too.
I used to like him but can't stand him now Hate watching Arsenal these days, they are well organised and so dangerous from set pieces but so bad from open play - always relying on individual quality rather than well worked team goals
fact is, IF the laws were strictly adhered to then these 'arguments' would never start, fans have asked for years for consistency from the officials and we also hoped that VAR would sort a lot of this cheating that is allowed to continue, instead we get a foul that was not looked at one game that leads to a sending off the next, we see a lad dragged down in a penalty area one game with nothing given and the self same thing next game being a penalty...we also see more cheating (thanks mainly to the pundits) with the current 'if there is contact it is a foul', the lawmakers need to get round a table and set some hard and fast rules. by the way, if it meant we lost a point or so along the way then so be it, as long as it is the same for all.
There’s another centre half doing that weird backing off thing when an inside forward is bearing down on goal. Van Hecke gave Nwaneri a free run in for the goal first half and then Gabriel gifted Minteh an opportunity that he really should have done better with. It was the thing that had me tearing my hair out with Hjelde in preseason. I would imagine it’s about not committing and making it easy for them to play into the middle but surely you can’t get much easier than a completely unimpeded route to the 6 yard box?
Should be forced to come out and explain that. Utter utter fkn b*llocks. That's a penalty every single time. Except for the incompetence shown today
Al Qaeda must’ve bunged PGMOL their Xmas bonus.. two questionable handballs in two games that seem to get given against other teams regularly!
I'm just about leaning towards penna. It is soft, but the guy nicks the ball then gets caught, albeit head on head.
I kind of see it from both angles. I don’t think there is any intention at all. He’s gone to head the ball, but missed and it the player. Soft yes, but imagine he tries to do the same with his foot and trips him, there is little to no argument.
