Cant see Plymouth doing that. Too many more experienced hands around. I do expect that Beale will get another chance somewhere as a number 1 and do well enough. Outside of the NE his time at us isnt as widely lambasted as you might think. Many still think we were lunatics for sacking Mowbray and then that Beale was never given a chance. He can tell that story and it may stand up to some. He has folk like Gerrard and McAllister willing to give him excellent references. May be a year or two yet, if he wants to keep learning, which to be fair to him is what he has tried to do. Lets see, but he probably deserves his place on the bench somewhere.
I don’t doubt he’ll get another crack, he was destined to fail here so he can play on the fact he wasn’t given a chance like you say, I don’t have any ill will towards him really, we’ve come out the other side far better thankfully
Yeah mate. He was the wrong choice for us, but dont blame him for taking us on. I would like to see him do well again somewhere, but I am a lover of football coaches in general that have grafted their way through the system without a silver spoon.
With everything going on in his personal life I thing it was just the wrong time for both parties, would wish him well apart from if/when he comes up against us, for an up and coming coach we are probably a hard job to turn down, you get it right here your stock goes through the roof, if we go up or dare I say even go very close I can see Règis being in demand, we’re often looked at as a basket case from the outside
Agree mate. And coming in mid season is always a bit harder, for me anyway. Regis is starting to make his name known. I noticed the sky boys are really raving about his job this season now. That said, I think he is more of a low profile coach. By that I mean he isnt any sort of self-publicist. It is about him and his players. Some coaches make the mistake of thinking they can come in and just stamp themselves in the club. Some of the overseas coaches seem to have that attitude, Regis doesnt. Might be the thing keeps him with us for a longer term. Plus he has his ideal setup with emphasis on development of kids. Long may he reign.
Spot on assessment like We also don't hammer teams by playing amazing football and that won't always catchs the eye. We play 2 way football, work hard, are well organised and get players forward. Obviously if he gets us promoted then he will start being talked about a lot more
His 2 way football is the most impressive part isnt it. He seems to get both. It is the exact reason why I have long thought we will be better second half of the season. I used to love coaching defensive work. I thought it so interesting. But it is easier. Regis has made us much more resilient and I think we will see his attacking coaching paying more dividends now he has more faith in our shape and reactions to turnover.
Just read that Rooney voluntarily foregoed all compensation for leaving Plymouth. I know he doesn’t need the money but fair play to him.
Aye. He obviously has plenty of cash, but it's still the right thing to do, and not always been done by some others who might have done the same.
Dunno how accurate these rumours are but for arguments sake let's say they're all true, it would put it in perspective how he's still getting work if he's willing to work for free while lending one of the biggest names in football to the club. Fair play to him, kind of, but if he's using it as a way to get his foot in the door and then tanking every club he coaches he needs to stop doing it.
Why wouldn’t he do that, though? I doubt he’s gonna work for nothing, whether he needs the money or not.
I always said is that he was always going to fail because he wasn’t Will Still. As supporters we tend to buy into the hype and rumours surrounding our club as we are so invested in it. All the rumours and that’s all they were in my opinion were that our next head coach after Mowbray was going to be Will Still. So when Beale was appointed the sense of deflation was palpable within the fan base. The only thing that could have given him a stay of execution was getting off to a good start and by that I mean winning every game playing with flair and panache. That as we know didn’t happen. The writing was on the wall with the cup game against Newcastle where we were seriously outclassed, outplayed and tactically outthought. Factor in the added debacle of the BCB incident and he was at that point, to coin the phrase a ‘dead man walking’. I think he knew that as well. His overall demeanour certainly didn’t help him but he shouldn’t have been judged on that. What he was rightly judged on was his ability to get a team winning games. From my understanding he knew where the team needed to improve he just didn’t have the nous to make it happen. Let’s also not forget that he came in on his own so it was going to be an uphill battle from day one. Thankfully those in charge realised very early on that they had made a mistake and moved quickly in removing him. Dodds clearly wasn’t any better but at that point I think the plan was to maintain a holding pattern ready for an all out assault this season with a new leader at the helm. That seems to be working doesn’t it? Like others I bear no ill will towards Beale but all his appointments show that he’s not cut out to be a head coach, at least not at clubs such as us and Rangers where there is an expectation of success.
Potter apparently in talks with them. That was the type of coach they needed in the summer so at least they will eventually get the type they need.
