It's cleared up the fact that the lad wasn't liking a Portsmouth win but liking the fact that his mate had scored. There's a big difference. It was ill timed and thoughtless - it would have been better to congratulate him privately on text or WhatsApp but what the public response does is to put it to bed. Apology issued. He acknowledges it was inappropriate but it removes anything sinister which might be in people's minds.

I agree, it does highlight what we already know that most modern players don’t really give a **** . That defeat should be hurting minutes after the match and you shouldn’t even be wanting to text your mum happy birthday ,Never mind congratulate a mate . But most simply do not give a **** whether we / they , win or lose .

Win lose draw, they're all still paid. The desire and personal pride just isn't there anymore in football ( arguably life in general for a fair few ) bar a small number.

OK first of all this was a recovery operation. It's so typical of the youf of today, in short ****ing stupid with more balls than brain cells. The credit should go to someone in the club I hope it was Selles who saw what was going on and worked out how to bring it to an end.
