Leeds had Solomon, Dan James and Piroe to bring off the bench yesterday Who did we have? Connolly, Rusyn and Ogunsuyi The levels man. We’ve done well to be only 7 points behind them at this stage!
Brownhill maybe could’ve been in there for his numbers alone. 9 goals and 3 assists is excellent from the middle of the park
Hear me out without me sounding like a 80 year old racist here.. It’s very stereotypical and I know I’ll probably get called worse than shyte but how many great Southeastern Asian players have we seen? You can probably count on one hand how many decent Japanese, Korean players have been in the PL in the last decade. I know there seems to be more in the bundesliga mind so not saying it’s impossible to find them but I think you’re more likely to find better players elsewhere. I don’t think there’s many who will make the grade to be honest so although Celtic have had a bit of a success with Kyogo there’s a lot more they’ve signed that aren’t good and they’re obviously playing in the SPL where it’s not hard to look good in that Celtic team. Some of them you won’t even heard of because they’ve basically just done a FM and signed loads hoping some would make the cut. They had Hyeon Oh who wasn’t very good and got shipped off last season to Belgium, Iwata now in L1 with Birmingham. Yang signed for a few million in summer has barely kicked a ball and been poor when he has. Kobiyashi signed and barely played for 2 seasons then sold. Ideguchi signed, loaned straight out then sold. Kwon signed and been loaned to other SPL teams two seasons running. Hatate and Maida are alright at best, neither are going to play for a better team than Celtic imo. Whereas you look at the South American countries and you think that has to be the place we scout. There’s an abundance of young lads who’ll go on to great things playing in Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay, Columbia.
Absurd numbers, imagine the glazing if it was a player of ours? I’d have loved him in the 10 role like with Neil and Bellingham in the midfield, what a 3 that would be this season.
Ji Dong won cost a mag in my family over a grand with his goal against city, I’ll have a squad of useless Koreans for that moment alone in all seriousness though just comes down to the scouting really doesn’t it? Do worry about our record with signing from abroad not an abundance of success yet each time we do it I find myself getting more excited about them than the British lads for some reason, sucker for a fancy name
Aye definitely mate. I think it’s just down to the facilities and how big football actually is there too though. Look at Uruguay, population is around the same as Scotland I believe (5m give or take) yet they’ve had some great teams throughout the last century. Whereas a country like China or India has over a billion living there but football was never a priority so it’s very rare to see any top drawer players from those countries. I think there’s a bit of excitement about the unknown too, you sign English players you’ve already seen play and you kind of know what you’re going to get whereas with foreign footballers you’ve never seen them.
I’d like to think we have an eye on all markets, still waiting on the influx of Uruguayan wonder kids Juan was bringing mind so maybes they’re all now ready
Great appointment that. Surprised he's jumped back in that quickly to a club like that though, think he could've done better if he waited. Stoke will have offered him a good wage and promises in the market though.
The money Stokes owners have they really shouldn’t be in the position they are. I think they need a sensible consolidation period then start over and with some shrewd business they should be challenging at the top of the league.
