Should have to wait until Dubs fluffs his lines or leaves Newcastle ( not sure if he has signed for another team)
Pity Ashworth wasn’t there watching that, I’m sure he’ll have had it on in the background in his potting shed mind. Gutted we didn’t bury those ****ers when we were on it in the first half. That 2nd half was a nervous watch. Tonali megging the ref in the first half cracked me up, the guy is an absolute baller.
I've been up since around 5 and so far it's been impossible to avoid the poor old man united noise...admittedly they do throw in a patronising oh and well done to Newcastle btw, but it's nice to know just how badly the country is taking things. If Newcastle do ever win anything the media will spend a year saying standards have fallen and the sport is finished..... looking forward to it.
Given they were restricted to one shot on target, in 90mins, at home, I think we managed that pretty well. About the only downer last night was Schar's yellow card
Not happy with the second half performance mind. We didn’t do anything of note. If they had scored an early goal it would have been different. The first 30 minutes we battered them. The next 60 we sat back and did the Eddie Howe thing. Not sure why. We could have hammered them.
According to BBC stats :- They had 10 shots at goal with NONE on target ( rubbs hands with delight emoji )
It was odd. They were there to be absolutely rinsed. We retreated into a 5-4-1, which I'd understand against someone like Liverpool, but Man U are awful. Still, 2-0 is all that matters.
The thing is mate I don't enjoy watching the side manage games, but that's exactly what they did and they succeeded. Newcastle are capable now of blowing sides away and then simply seeing games out which isn't something I've ever seen here. Newcastle were just playing the clock.
If we’d have been running around flat out for the full 90 and picked up a couple of injuries, you’d have bemoaned EH’s game management (you too @Judge GG ). We didn’t over exert ourselves, they didn’t score, yes, we could have had about 6 in the first half but if rather keep some in the tank for Spurs - who are running on fumes. All round I have absolutely zero complaints bar Schar’s yellow.
Conserving energy and conserving players. Why run around more than you need too? We still ended up with three points. By not running around for a further sixty minutes or so the players are, in relative terms, less tired etc and need less time to recover. They are, therefore, able to do that in the next game rather than be rested or tired. Plus, give Man U some credit, that early substitution did improve them. Edit. Or what Fudge slyly said before I got to read his.
Amorim has found himself in a hell of a situation there. He seems like a top guy but he'll never survive long enough for what needs to happen. They literally need a whole new starting 11 and even Man U are in FFP issues because they have jizzed a trillion quid up the wall on crap players
