Edinburgh hogmanay event cancelled due to weather. Is it going to be that bad or are we turning into a nation of scaredy cats?
Fair enough. Not sure its about ppl being scared of weather, more like organisers/the council scared of getting sued if accidents or delays happen.
50-60 MPH winds forecast across most of Scotland for New Years Eve...The main stage wouldn't withstand a buffeting like that, couple that with a real danger to life and it's reasonable to cancel the event? It's been cancelled several times and the cancellations have proved to be the right decision on each occasion.Unfortunate for the people who've booked tickets and accommodation but better than someone being killed. We had 50 mile an hour winds and 6 inches of rain last-night(N.E of Glasgow) and I wouldn't have ventured out in it,never mind going to a firework display and live music p!ss up.
I get weather warnings from Powergrid whenever there's gonna be bad weather and to be fair they're not usually wrong. Today they said they're ready for anything that happens and i'm on the priority watch.
Those pictures are amazing, I took some this morning from my front window, wish I could put 'em up on here.
Can you ask them to put Ayr Racecourse on priority watch? I've got tickets and booked a non refundable hotel on Thursday
