There's another Scouser and ex Everton player who also liked a drink. Peter Reid. When he was the Mackems boss he would stop the team bus on the way home from an away game and decamp to a pub in the middle of nowhere. They wouldn't get out until the early hours and usually arrived home sometime around 11am.

He’s a talented drinker, it’s nothing to be ashamed about.

My pal at Uni, his dad was the director of communications at Derby when Rooney joined. He has some really good stories, Rooney would be excellent for after dinner speaking and podcasts. Maybe not the coaching side. Albeit the bloke has picked some absolute basket cases to take over

I do genuinely respect the guy. He clearly just loves the game and wants to be part of it, and he's got the confidence and thick skin to keep trying his hand at management (he just seems not to be a good fit for it).

Sad for him if he's got alcohol problems. He doesn't look in great condition for someone under 40, but there can be other medical reasons for that. Similar situation to Ricky Hatton, and when retire haven't got the training regime to get back in shape.
He's got a family from what I remember and shouldn't have money issues, but unfortunately some (like me) can't moderate.

I thought he was in the running for the key part in the new Henry the 8th movie..
Sorry to hear that he might have booze problems..Not good for anyone. My friends son was in and out of the drying out place, before taking his own life. Very sad.

I’m not sure on that picture, it was posted making out he was on the lash the night before their last game. However he was with the team apparently

Good luck to him if I had his money and fame I’d be drinking the finest champagne and sniffing white powder from models arse cheeks.

Find what you love and let it kill you.
