It’s not just the clear cut chances we have, it’s when we’re on the break 4 on 4 or 3 on 3 and the decision making poor is what’s infuriating to me. Each game I think this will be the one we take the lead and then put them to bed like Portsmouth away but it’s just not clicking in the final third. I do think we have a good run in us, the injuries have caught up with us a bit
19 shots in their box and we came out with an xG of just over 2. Most of which was made up by Mayenda and humes shot (which was actually given offside so knock 0.58xG off our total) that’s the type of chances we create
Nah we need someone who is a out and out striker who is trusted to score more than not. Wilson is good but he isn't that. Moves break down too much and he is inconsistent for me. Capable of the spectacular but drifts out of games far far too much. Wilson can be used outwide or rotate with the striker if needed.
Yes lucky. Our centre half basically fell over the ball leading him to have a clear shot on goal. Thats the only chance he had all game and people are using that as a stick to bash our CF with not taking away from his finish but he hardly set the game a light the way people are going on
His build up play is inconsistent I can agree but if we learned to create a chance he’d score a boat load. Put him up front for someone like Leeds with dangerous play or boro and he’d score a load
Poor result today. Chances missed, unlucky penalty shout and again a late goal that not only could have but should have been avoided. Suppose it was one of those that was always on the cards but we don't have quite enough for automatic promotion I fear. We are really missing that Mundle/Watson on the left although AA was not too bad today.
A very disappointing result no matter how you look at it.. We need to take points off teams like this. We definitely need more up top. A ****e weekend completed. Safe journey home to all those who travelled.
Nothing lucky about the chance taking though. High quality finish. We had many more cleaner chances but failing to convert any. The difference ? Composure and Quality. You get what you pay for.
Aleksic was always going to be the player to come off. 1st League start means he's always likely to come off after 60+ mins.
That was the dirty one-niller I feared. Soke were awful apart from a 10 minute spell. We didnt take our chances - thats where it went wrong! Bad day at the office.
That’s on the players and the positions they’re shooting from, it’s nout to do with anything else. We’ve done the hard part getting the ball into the box so often it’s down to someone to put it in the net, which a quality 9 would. They’d find the space to be available for the ball. 7 PL teams scored twice today with less xG than we had.
We do seem to have become really overly cautious and that's why we draw/concede especially late on as we sit back
This, it was said in the summer that we still didnt address the striker situation and we certainly havent. There are plenty positives overall and emotions are high after a loss, however this doesnt stop objective criticism. In the summer they tried for the kid from lorient, Mendy and Orban and we failed to get any of them.
Yeah I think people always forget that. We were still trying to sign a striker at 10:59pm on deadline day.
The first team is depleted at the moment, missing the likes of; Rigg, Mundle, Browne, Ballard and Watson, all of whom would have been in contention to start if fit. Their keeper was excellent again and we just didn't get ourselves out of third gear. We didn't deserve to lose, but we didn't deserve to win either.
The defeat won’t feel anywhere near as bad once the dust settles like This playing squad and management team would be doing very well to get a play-off spot.
