I have posted the below on a few threads yesterday that were perhaps disgruntled that we had lost again to lower league opposition, but look at the positives:

NA has said if we don't gain promotion this season we try again the next. If not next year then the year after and so on, etc...

The job he has done has been perfect ever since he arrived! <ok>

Of course expectations have sky rocketed this season.

But if someone said in August Saints would be in the top 2 come mid-December then you would have laughed at them!
And if they had offered the top 2 for you come mid-December then you would've said yes <ok>

We are over achieving massively and given our good form overall I am sure NA and NC would be willing to make an addition in January to push us for the final assault!

As NA said, you will have off-days and today was one of them. Despite losing 2 in the last week and still staying top, that says a lot about the team and how much as a team we have already achieved this season! <cheers>

One thing is certain, if we have results like this from time to time, we will come back stronger!

    COYR!

By RGLB, a very happy Saints fan! <ok>

A good win at home against Blackpool then a win away at the skates would silence alot of negativity, the fact weve only picked up 3 points from a possible 9 and yet remain where we are shows that it will only take a few good results to restore our cushion, I hope!

I can understand where you are coming from and i am happy being a saint at the moment but that doesn't stop me being disappointed when we don't play well, notice how i say don't play well? I say that because when i came away from Leicester i left feeling positive even though we lost because we played bloody well, but that wasn't the case at Donny.I went yesterday and last weekend to Bristol and i have to say my overriding emotion is one of worry, they were not at all encouraging and as other people have said it has shown our squad up a bit with the losses of Lambert and Chaplow to be quite thin,in terms of quality that is!When we lose i want to come away knowing we lost but lost giving it our all and quite frankly the last 2 away games and to some extent the Hull game we just haven't done that and with myself and GF forking out 300 quid to get to those 2 away games i feel i should be able to come back and report honestly on what i saw and if that upsets people and they think i'm being negative then so be it.I don't think it should be frowned upon every time someone says something that aint seen as positive,as long as they don't go too overboard!

Can understand that Adam, it shows we do need a little more depth in the squad.

Obviously we should have beaten Bristol City and Doncaster, but we didn't.

As Adkins says, ''we move on and draw the blue line under it''.

As long as we get behind the team then that is all the matters!

Oh definitely! i tend to get really frustrated at games and then come home and look at the bigger picture and gain a bit of perspective, all in all i'm a happy saints fan but also a bit of a worried one based on the last 2 away games.Just don't want to lose that good feeling that i've had for the past 18 months,it will happen but it's deffo gonna be strange when it does.

we've all forgotten that our beloved saints have always performed well against the so-called top teams (relative to the league context) and under performed against the lower ranked teams - bristle and donny this year. we've beaten 5 teams in the top 7 one of which we haven't played (blackpool) already this year. this means our 'tougher' run of away games after Xmas isn't perhaps as challenging as it looks.

we are still picking up points during this blip. signings are no doubt needed in January so if we can keep grabbing the points until then we have every reason to stay optimistic. as fans we will play a huge part in maintaining our 100 per cent home record - we need to keep positive!!

    Up the Saints!

RGLB, I know you have been taking every opportunity to explain your view recently. Almost every post of yours has a little of this in it. Fear not. Some of us really are of the same calling. We know that Nigel says the league will fluctuate. We know not to get too down or too high. We know he said we'll go again next season, or the next, or the next, until we achieve promotion. You're preaching to the vastly converted mate. Don't worry. I know some are getting gobby with frustration, but their hearts are in the right place. Nigel and Nicola are as good a combination as this club are likely to ever have. We'll keep supporting them until the job is done. And then we'll carry on supporting them. ;)

Well said that man......absolutely <applause> We have to recognise though that people express there disappointment in different ways. Especially within a short time of the event. Typical would be the way one poster said that after travelling to both the Bristol and the Donny game he would not go to another away game. I am willing to lay odds someone with that kind of dedication is not going to give up so easily. It is just what I call first hand frustration and disappointment. A gut slamming reaction, especially if they have played particularly badly. Most will bounce back from the disappointment of that last game and will turn up the heat for Blackpool. At a guess also another manager that will cop some stick!

And if we beat Blackpool, not only will we still be top of the league, we'll have gone a whole year unbeaten at SMS. Surely both those thiings will be enough of an incentive to the team?
