Could be right! Sunderland looks to beat European rivals for versatile Chelsea youngster https://theprideoflondon.com/sunder...0Daxjj068vZ8k-37Ng_aem_UgK-Bwpyzpkfudc4C5lVQQ
He’s already better than JC at this stage of his career, he’s got a better turn of pace and attacks the byline as well as cutting in. JC was quality for us though.
Vale is the sort of player we’ve had massive success with. Cirkin, Alese, Mundle and to a lesser extent, Huggins.
The more I think about it the more onboard with it I am, never seen the lad play like just feels like a Sunderland signing
His contract is up at the end of the season and the most he has played is on loan at Bristol Rovers, I presume this would be a cut price deal?
He certainly can finish no doubt about it , but his game lags a way behind Watson and Rigg . Nevertheless it would be interesting to see him get a run out in a game or two if and when circumstances allow, it would do no harm, but I honestly cant see it happening with Reg in charge tbh.
We’re good at striking deals for academy players so wouldn’t be surprised if we did something along those lines
Low fee, sell on and first dibs probably. A Cirkin type deal makes sense for all parties. Said it earlier but I really like him. At 21 he needs to now be playing at a good level to develop. Rusyn out, Vale in would be a good squad upgrade out imo. Goos for Rusyn too, still think there is a good player somewhere but I suspect the move came at the wrong time for him.
I think Regis is likely to give the kids a chance. We have been lucky in that most coaches we have had since Speakmamln landed have been prepared to give the kids freedom and belief to play. Johnson and Mowbray invested a lot of time with the academy lads. I am sure Regis will do the same and in Murty he has a brilliant football man to help him know when the time is right
Honestly I worry for Rusyn, I think he is a very specific type of player (inside left forward) who was allowed free rein at his previous club and was able to shine because of it, it's unlikely he gets that again willy nilly.
My take on Trey is that he is way behind Isidor and Mayenda at present, and with the pressure on results and our position in the league, chances for him will be limited this year, but who knows things can change quickly in football.
I am sure you are right mate. I read an interview with Regis where he talked about Trey and him being in a good place here to get a taste of things. My perspective is just that I see Regis as a coach who doesnt see age or experience as a barrier. Talent yes. Watson, Rigg, Mayenda all probably examples of that under him. Mind in Rigg he has himself impossible to drop. Watson was doing the same but for injury.
Reduces the gamble though. Lots of young players don't kick on in the way you hope. If we could give them £3mill up front, or sign him for nothing and give them half of the sell on fee, I'd go for the latter. If he turns out to be class and we sell him for £16mill, the hit on the transfer fee would be offset by the fact he'd possibly fired us up the league
