Did alright in Germany (albeit only 1 season) too.

If it’s a loan with no obligation to buy then could be a good deal. He’s 26 so a good age. If it’s a loan but becoming permanent then not so keen as never know how he would get on and the last thing Spurs need is another ineffective winger.

The main argument against RKM is that he's best suited to one of two systems
i.) A fast-breaking counter attacking team, which Nantes were (which explains him reportedly being on our radar under Conte)
ii.) The entire team is built around funneling the ball to him, which Eintracht were

This goes a long way to explaining why he's been less than effective at PSG (or for the France team, TBH) as the team isn't built around getting the ball to him since he was brought in as Mbappe's understudy and is now backing up Goncalo Ramos, and it also has to be said Luis Enrique doesn't play to his strengths as his tactics are borderline Portuguese so a lot of sideways passes until they aren't which doesn't fit in with someone who hassles high up the pitch

...but it has to be said that last part is a reason we probably should look elsewhere: yes he's a pacey forward who will harass defenders like they owe him money when we lack the ball, but that's what Solanke already offers so having two players whose game is broadly similar (albeit RKM has better control and is scarily fast) doesn't feel like the tactical tweak we need, when surely what we need to be looking for as a striker off the bench is someone who can hold up the ball to bring in either one of the wide players or a late runner from midfield?

...that being said, as he did start his career as a winger due to his pace and control, so if the plan is to bring him in not as a CF but to play out wide, where he got established at Nantes and where PSG tend to stick him, there's potential value in there - but potential value is a risky balancing act if there's an obligation to buy him

Munich have this guy called Kane.
In his 30s and injury-fragile, but he could be good
    backup for Solanke and Richarlison.

Ben Davies has had a setback and is out for at least another couple of weeks. Spence will miss the Sunday as suspended.
At this rate Will Lankshear will be playing CB for a few weeks! At least he'll get some game time! <laugh>

Dan KP says we're looking at a potential January deal for Abdukodir Khusanov, who I did a bit of a dive on a few pages back for anyone morbidly curious, bored, or so stuffed with cheese and Twiglets at this point of Zombie Week all they can do is click links and wheeze out of one end or the other

He also says we're trying to line up a move for Sergio Reguilon, since he failed to take the hint in the summer when we bluntly told him to do one. IIRC there was interest from Getafe a month or two ago, though we'd likely have to offer a loan that becomes an obligation if he plays ten games or something for that to materialise

In other news, with Barca bungling the registration of Dani Olmo for the remainder of the season, widye?

Frenkie de Jong is available in a cut-price deal after falling out with Hansi Flick

So, if real life were Football Manager, that means we offer to loan Dani Olmo as Barca botched his registration, and then a week later offer to take de Jong off their hands and that's our midfield sorted

Type of players we should definitely target, however:

Neither would likely be desperate to join us initially so Ange would veto any move for them.

De Jong’s wages would give Levy a heart attack.

Olmo has to move somewhere in January, though, given Barca ****ed his registration. I wonder where the think pieces saying they "aren't a serious club" are...?

The main issue with de Jong is wages, but not in the way most people might think: Barca still owe him €17m in unpaid wages stemming from deferred wages during Lockdown which he'd like to have paid back, and have been unwilling to do so for the last couple of years - which means part of the reason he's stuck around is either due to screwing as much money out of the club as he can considering how much they've screwed out of him, and likely part the belief that if Barca sell him they'll try and dick him on wages (which is likely what will torpedo any potential move, as various moves have been torpedoed for that reason in the past)

Surely there's some way to hammer something out...but that pretty much says a loan, doesn't it?

I think Barca are set to appeal the decision on the 30th so we’ll see if he definitely has to move or not by then.

Even if he does, I highly doubt it’ll be to us.

As I said, Ange will likely veto both him and de Jong as they’ll be two players who won’t initially be desperate to join Spurs. Ange has that weird fetish where he only wants players that only want Spurs. Both Olmo and Frenkie - should they leave or consider leaving - will see what the best offer is for them.

Then on Levy’d part, a basic wage and a free tour of the skywalk probably wont be the best offer they’d receive.

Wanting players who only want to play for is isn't a weird thing, after all he inherited Ndombele and that's before listing the other players (and occasional manager) with the attitude that they're doing us a favour being at our stadium on matchdays

TBH Olmo doesn't strike me as some superstar ****er wannabe so if he's offered the chance to play he probably won't be a douche about it - though de Jong I'm 50/50 he could have that issue, though that's more likely because he's more focused on the £15m Barca are bilking him out of

Olmo wouldn’t be desperate to solely join us though if his Barca career is over. There’ll be about 5-10 clubs who’ll be in for him straight away, there’s not a chance he’ll match Ange’s criteria of wanting to only join us, he’ll want to see who offers him the best package both sporting and financially.

For us to have even a remote chance of signing Olmo or de Jong, Ange would need to change his rules and then we face the next hurdle… Levy having to make them our two biggest earners.

I’d say our chances of signing either is less than 5% and even that feels optimistic.

The obvious point with Olmo is he might be so PO'd that Barca (who are not a serious club) ****ed his registration, and that's something that can be used for a loan

I mean we got six months of Mido being a footballer from similar circumstances

La Liga doesn't help itself in these cases. Ludicrous amount of loopholes, exceptions and exceptions to the exceptions built into what should be a very simple rule: if you are broke, you can't register more players.

In some cases, an abacus is all they need

    Three GKs
    8 Defenders
    17 Midfielders
    5 Strikers

...wait, we need to get ten beads on the other side again

Alasdair Gold has posted a list of positions we're reportedly looking at for January

Four hours later, Paul O'Queef posts a list which looks uncannily similar

    What a ****ing fraud
